Re: Whoooa!!!
Speaker wires look a bit skimpy for those speakers and the sub looks to not even be hooked up. Nice room and flooring tho...

My wife would like this room because the wires and electronics are out of sight. There are a lot of hard surfaces in the room so I wonder about sound quality.

Advertising to me. Speakers to far apart and against the wall. I am curious the ports in the wall. Might be a nice way to route speaker and interconnects up and out in a hidden way.
And where are the amps.

Re: Whoooa!!!
Far more important things to do in that room than pull the pin on those Mpods. Might as well leave the pins in. Looks like they are using entry level CrystalSpeak speaker cables. Those speakers are worthy of something higher up the Crystal Cable food chain, for what it's worth in that room. All very odd. I'd say it's a show-pony installation.

Re: Whoooa!!!
certainly a classy room and listening place. nice job on the whole vibe of the spot.
it would be interesting to understand the process of speaker choice in this case. recent previous speaker(s) owned? previous Magico owner? was it purely performance? if a married couple was it a joint selection? is this a second home? with those cable chases already there this was not any casual decision.
there is no wrong answer, and i'm not judging. just curious.my system on Audiogon; https://www.audiogon.com/systems/615

It's hilarious that this guy lives in Europe and people are making so many comments on what they don't like about the room, the setup, and question why he chose the Magico speakers.

Re: Whoooa!!!
I texted my friend Jeremy (Paris Magico dealer) who did the install. I’ll let you know what he says.

By the post code on the shipping label, at a wild guess I'd say the install is in Mouilleron-le-Captif.

Re: Whoooa!!!
Tell Jeremy that some people on AS have their panties in a bunch over this guys room and system and they want answers to their questions. Why Magico speakers? Speaker cables are too cheap. Where is the rest of the system? He needs to give a detailed breakdown on his gear and the history of his audio journey so some people can ease their worried minds. Member solutions for all of his issues will follow.

Re: Whoooa!!!
there are 'art' shots for gear promo, then there are people who choose to use speakers as accessories to their 'real' rooms.
as a card carrying mouth breathing mono brow audiophile, who is all in on the sound, i'm always interested in the "why" behind serious gear used in an architectural context. it's not a mater of not appreciating what i see. or being critical. i like pretty things as much as the next guy.
Magico is not ignorant on this issue. the M9's will likely end up many times being the right choice because of the looks, not in spite of it. Magico is how all speakers might want to look. my opinion only. of course.
locally here in Seattle some years ago, i happened to be told once about what speaker Bill Gates uses. evidently his interior designer choose MBL 101E's purely for the way they look in the room. and they are rarely played. nothing wrong with that.my system on Audiogon; https://www.audiogon.com/systems/615

Re: Whoooa!!!
I’d take that M2 in any room in a nano second.
It’s hard to say how a room would sound based on a picture even it looks less than optimal. I recently moved to a new house and while I now have a dedicated room (which sounds great btw), I find myself spending majority of my time in the family room as it is adjacent to the dining room and kitchen in an open floorplan. So I started thinking to put an audio system there with JBL or Magico and an integrated, along with a few acoustic panels given that the room seemingly has a lot of reflective surfaces. But having a kid less than 2 years old who grabs everything in sight relentlessly, my wife has concerns and the project is put on hold. So, I bought a Sonos arc soundbar to just get by these couple of years. To my surprise, the soundbar in this supposedly reflective room doesn’t sound bad at all. It only has a TV, a soundbar and an AppleTV. I’ll figure things out more when the time comes to actually install a system there, but at this moment it really doesn’t bother me to turn on the tv and enjoy movies or kids YouTube videos. The added bonus is I can also play Tidal, Spotify via Sonos and do occasional “hey google” to have some fun with the kid.

Re: Whoooa!!!
We made an offer on a second propery. In the end we backed out. During the contingency time I drew up a house draft. Laid out the floor plans. My system will eventually be darn close to what is seen here. A Boulder integrated amp near a central island fireplace with a couple bookshelf speakers and a couple subs placed as side coffee tables. And I will be happy as can be. I noted the room looks like a advertisement because it is tasteful and attractive. Something that botters me about my current setup. My current is a bit in your face for a living room audio system.

Re: Whoooa!!!
I might venture a guess the owner doesn't care that much. He bought a nice system and it plays great background music and entertains guests at parties. I sometimes wonder how many high end systems are in my geographic region. Only 10 or so people in Seattle post on these forums. Maybe 40 members in the PNWAS. But there are enough audio shops to say more than 50 people bought a decent stereo. And I bet for the most part they are totally content with it.
If I had not had issues with the first Rega gear I bought. As in it worked correct out of the box. I may never have upgraded a thing. I may have been totally content with my speakers neatly spaced in my room with a sever in my office playing digital. Issues forced me to seek answers and I fell down a hole. In reality, my stereo was fun to listen to when it worked. I had no idea all the stress one could bring upon themselves obsessing over the last 5%.

Re: Whoooa!!!
my guess would be completely different.
i think the man was thinking VERY longtime and it was a painful big investment for him and probably his wife as well.
taking photos outside, from the installing process, the details from the footers.....the excitement certainly is there.
to put the equipement in the room behind the frontwall is the best you can do soundwise and also visually if you dont like to look at the gear. and obviously the owner are into aesthetics.
as for the speaker placement....the application here is to satisfay a larger group / bigger place.
sure, you trade in the one and only sweetspot and loose 3d staging.
close to the wall wont hurt here anymore and the m2 is not something that will boom.
i think it is very well done.
understatement score: 100/100

Re: Whoooa!!!
We're building a new home and because we spend so much time currently in our kitchen (new home has an open kitchen/family room floorplan), the hi fi is going in the family room despite it not being an acoustically optimal "listening room." But it's our real life listening room.
I could have built a dedicated listening room in the basement, but I'd never want to use it I know. My wife and I listen together much of the time. We can enjoy the music in the kitchen/family room. Re: Whoooa!!!
I'm in the camp of "we have to live in our homes" and I think that the room is lovely (its a matter of taste of course) and I'd be delighted to own M2's in such a room.
We love our music at home, but I will never have a "dedicated listening room" that's not part of the LIVING area of our home. That requires some sacrifices; based on our tastes, yes the hi fi is in a room with "too much" hard surfaces. So be it. It sounds wonderful, we love it, we're glad we own it, and thus there is no "much better setup" for us.Sources: Naim ND555/555PS | Roon Nucleus | Naim Soltstice Special Edition turntable and phono stage

Re: Whoooa!!!
I view the new home as a chance to move up from our A3's but at the moment the home is costing more than planned (gee - never saw that coming right?!?!?) and so I have delayed thinking about new speakers until after we're living in the home for a while. These A3's please us every time we listen and thus no hurry! I've always been a "value shopper" and the A's definitely ping the value shopper in me!

Re: Whoooa!!!
Congrats on your new home. We just moved into our new home last Thanksgiving. By the time we did all the add-ons - it's spendy - and we're already thinking about another new one...
The A3s, which I own as well, are exceptional. I really enjoy them. I could choose to just be satisfied with them and not purchase the M3s at all. But ...

Re: Whoooa!!!
I listened to M2's locally - really enjoyed them. That was about 5 months ago or so. Back home - not sad we still own the A3's. Yes I'm sure it'll happen sometime, but the test of coming home and still liking what we own is test that was passed even after listening to the M2's. Thank goodness!
