New Magico S3 - 2023

S3MK2 was introduced in 2016, I believe. So more like 6 plus years. Regardless, no one is forcing anyone to buy anything. The fact that there is something new does not render what you have obsolete.

Great concept, I am sure the good people at Magico can survive on dry bread crumbs and water (but not too much of it, cause it's also rather expensive)

Yet models like S5MK2, S7 and M3 are older, I wonder if the rummers behind supply difficulties of S3 aluminum body are not behind this move at this time.

:)

I am happy and intrigued by the new offering. It gives me, an A5 owner, a path for an upgrade without breaking the bank. The S3Mk2 was not a worthwhile upgrade to the A5, IMO.

The new S3s are $45-52K depending on the finish. This hobby is getting crazier and crazier. Although I've spent a good amount on my system, the crazy prices are really making me rethink what I'm spending my money on.

Looking to upgrade my A5 to the next level, without breaking the bank. The S3Mk2 was not the answer, IMO.

I’d agree the performance jump from A5 to S3 mk2 may not knock your socks off. But S3 mk2 is still a better speaker and at the used price, probably is a better bargain than A5 if one is considering either one. Better looking one too. IMO of course.

Pretty!

IMO they should rename it as a new line. The cabinet is much deeper than S3 mk1/mk2 and drivers are almost completely different. It also uses tri-pod (as in M series) as opposed to four outriggers of the old S3.

The name “the new S3” isn’t going to work in about 1-2 years when it is no longer “new”.

IMO they should go for the mk.3 name - this is how ppl will be calling the speaker anyway.

I think they stopped building S3Mk2 a long time ago, right?

I was told by a dealer that the machine that extruded the one piece S3 aluminum enclosures broke down and could not be repaired. There were probably some units in the pipeline at the time, but I think it's been over two years now.
