I think if you check the Magico website there is a dealer near you, no? Let us know if you go hear the A3’s and what you think.

Magico said A3 tweeter is purpose built for A series.
M3 also has the same size 28mm (1.1 inch) tweeter - I believe it is custom made for Magico by Morel (the 25mm ones are custom made by Scan Speak).

You're right. Seems there's a typo on Magico site regarding M3 tweeter. It says 1", but it does also say 2.8cm.

Sorry Mep, I just saw your question.

At the time, I listened to the Mini II in three different systems, and the V3 in two systems. Only one time did I hear them both in opposite sides of the same room. I think this was in the original Sound by Singer room in NYC. I thought the V3 did not sound quite as resolving and there was a slight discontinuity between the drivers. I loved the look of the Mini II and thought it was built to a higher standard. I read that the parts quality was better. It sounded better to me, though it did not have quite the same low frequency extension. Nevertheless, the bass quality was better and the overall sound was more cohesive. The speakers disappeared in the room. I had Eggleston Rosa speakers at the time which were about the same size as the V3. I did not have room treatment, and the Rosa overloaded my small room just a bit, so I did not want to take that risk with the V3.

I absolutely love the Mini II and have no regrets. They are superb sounding and looking. I was just not wow'd by the V3.

I have asked at Magico about the new tweeter, and got the following reply:

'although Morel does the final assembly, not a single part of our M and now A series tweeters is actually made there.'

I am new to the forum and the Magico A3's really have my interest. I now have the Goldenear Triton One's which I am happy with sonically but the appearance of them is not good IMHO.

The A3's are really attractive to me and I will be anxious to audition them.

Re: Magico Announces the A3 Loudspeaker

very enjoyable day today listening to some nice a3 , worth travelling 5 hours to hear . beautifully clear and yet not fatiguing at all . really open sound which i actually almost preferred to the s3 playing upstairs . the black finish may not be to everyones taste but certainly these are small enough to go in the average front room in uk as sealed box . extremely heavy though . it was good to meet alon wolf the designer of this brand and fairplay to him for bringing such a quality product which costs less than most of the preamplifiers in the shop !!

it was playing with some serious dcs gear

not bad , i was not in the sweetspot but it was very enjoyable and sense of space . alon used a file for most of recordings and only had a cd at the end so it would have been even better with cd throughout . i could certainly imagine myself in a concert hall

Really looking forward to the new center channel. My HT upgrade path for 2018 is a new center, and then the A3s. Since the HT is also a spare stereo, I want to move my Lumin S1 into it. That means I am waiting for the next gen Lumin for the stereo.

"On first listen at least, this window into the music could have easily passed for a much bigger, much more expensive loudspeaker. On first listen, I want a pair!"

Brilliant! I am so excited to get these in the store. Damn, I only ordered two pairs to start (one to go, one to show). I better stock up!

I wonder if the new 10% tariff on aluminium imported to the US is going to have flow-on affect to A3 pricing? From what I understand, A3 is built from mass produced pre-fabricated aluminium components sourced from outside the US.

It’s sourced from INSIDE the U.S.

Out of curiosity, why would you think the A3 uses aluminum components from outside the US? Magico is proud of their ability to machine aluminum into any thing they want. Other than the raw aluminum billets I think they build everything they need from that. Not sure about the drivers.

    Bud

I think his point was related to the tariff on the raw aluminum if sourced from a tariff affected country. He was not questioning their ability to machine it once they are in possession.

Re: Magico Announces the A3 Loudspeaker

Magico don't manufacture the A3 aluminium cabinet components, a contractor does it. I read an interview with Alon and I was to understand the cabinet components get manufactured outside the US and then assembled by Magico. If however the cabinet components are manufactured in the US, and the contractor sources that aluminium from a tariff affected country, then a price rise might be indicated.

    Magico Announces the A3 Loudspeaker

Holy Sh!t. Out of the box: “Wow!”. Big, airy, transparent, superb driver integration, no problem filling the 17 x 25 room.

Listening to The Wailin’ Jenny’s - Storm Comin’, the rain drops at the end are so present and real, the vocals are sweet and pure. Bass is articulate and real.

Rick (retired VAC engineer) is here with me. He noted: “there is nothing about these speakers I don’t like. Off axis listening is also excellent.” He has to say that last part, I won’t give him the sweet spot. Magico Announces the A3 Loudspeaker

Rick is blown away by the driver integration. He called the tweeter/midrange integration “like what you get with a superb monitor, but now, with bass.”

These are really, really, really, really, really good. The 28mm tweeter is superb and the larger tweeter allows a superb integration with the midrange. Big huge airy transparent sound.
