    M2 - Incoming

Well folks, it is the end of one era and the beginning of another for me. I have some of the first S3 Mk2's to to come into production in 2017. I can't count how many times I've said out loud what great performance I was getting from my system, or how much I love the sound. So much of that satisfaction is attributable to the Magicos. They got me through 18 months of pandemic and they've helped me keep my sanity. Next week the M2's will arrive to take their place. I am ready for a new level of performance, whatever that will mean in my room. I heard the M2's in Chicago in 2019, presented by Alon himself, and I knew I had to have the M series some day. Right now I am listening to Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians" (KAIROS), a recording full of subtle detail. I honestly cannot conceive how it can sound better. Next week I will check in and try to describe the difference.

Congrats! The M2s are excellent speakers. Wish you many years of happy listening with your M2s.

I was at AXPONA in 2019 and did hear a demo of the M2s with Alon. One of the artists he played during my visit was Avishai Cohen. Excellent bass player.

M2 and not M3? In terms of physical size, transplanting an S3Mk2 with an M3 would be the normal choice I would have thought.

Well, the M2 weighs 5 lbs. more than the S3 Mk2 and is a much deeper (if 3" shorter) profile. My room dimensions are perfect for the M2. That said, I would prefer the M3. It is a better speaker, and priced accordingly.

    Re: M2 - Incoming

I will try to avoid the familiar superlatives, but the M2 is the biggest upgrade I've ever made. I'm stunned. Greater coherency is the difference. And that makes every sound frequency sound clearer. Acoustic guitar, piano, electric guitar, drums and especially all human voices sound more convincing. Six hours in and I am sure I won't ever regret buying these.

P.S. I think getting the M-Pods involved really intensified the difference with my S3 Mk 2's, which had spikes on metal button-rests to protect the wood floors. I remember being shocked when I added the HRS under my AMG Viella. The changes here remind me of those. If I was sticking with the S-series I would buy the M-pods.

So good, so soon, really? When I bought my M3's it took 100+ hours before they started to impress me. You bought brand new M2, right? Or dealer demo with some hours on them?
