Yesterday was a fun one as I took delivery of a new pair of A5’s. I’ve managed to get them unboxed and setup as they run in but looking forward to getting their final placement secured eventually.

Right out of the gate, they are exactly what I was hoping for - all of the characteristics I loved about my previous A3’s, but more of everything. I sure do love their look as well. A totally manageable footprint but a masculine and industrial presentation.

I continue to be an extremely satisfied Suncoast Audio customer. Thanks Mike!

Pics to follow.

Wow, that's great news!

The A5's should sound amazing with the Gryphon 333. I've heard the A5's a few times. And the improved midrange driver along with the three bass drivers should really rock.

Just saw your picture of the placement and setup. Looks really good.

I'm with Darrel's comment above, the A5 and Gryphon should be a terrific combination. IIRC you were using Pass Labs in the past. How would you describe the difference between the Gryphon and the Pass pre/power amp you previously used?

I'm certain Suncoast shared this but be patient during the break in period. My experience was the bass took a long time to fully appear (to the point I thought it might never happen) but when it did it was as if someone flipped a switch. Enjoy.

The Gryphon - Magico pairing really is something. I think they complement themselves quite nicely. Though each system produced a different "sound", it reminds me how well Naim and Dynaudio play together.

The mid driver definitely steals the show, for me. Yes, the triple 9"s make their presence known more than the dual 7"s, but I really am appreciating the vocals and mids with the improved driver.

Thanks for the kind words, Darrel!

That is correct - I really enjoyed my time with the Pass Labs electronics. A great company with gear that sounded and looked great (to me). To put it simply, though, the Gryphon house-sound is just more for my tastes. The Pass and Gryphon both have great clarity, but the more tube-like and warm sound from the Pass didn't wake up the speakers quite like the Gryphon.

Thanks for the heads up on the break-in period. I remember that being similar to my experience with the A3's.

Thank you! Yes, the midrange is quite special already. I am sorry to hear about the excessive bass in your system. As you can see, my room is on the larger size and benefits from the bigger bass presence.

Sean,

Congratulations. I agree the A5s are more of everything compared to A3s. In my system there is too much bass but I appreciate the improved midrange.

I hate to be cliché, but it’s been so fun turning on my system and listening to music. The A5’s have seemed to get even better these past couple of days. I’m sure there is still some burn-in road left but I’m already very happy.

This past Saturday I was able to listen for several hours and had a blast listening to my favorite tracks, and discovering some new ones. I think they look badass, too.

Sean, how’s break in going?
