    Luxman Integrated volume control question

For my RoomPlay Reference sessions, the tracks often require different volume control settings, sometimes large, sometimes not. Each track has a precise level setting required, based on the recording, from slight adjustments, to massive ones, all depending on the RoomPlay Reference system readout.

MY ASR Emitter 2 Integrated gave a front panel readout of the selected volume control setting, as does my Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE Mk 11 preamplifier. IMO, readout of the selected volume in RoomPlay Reference sessions is fundamentally required for these teaching sessions to work at the highest level.

If you do not have an adjustable volume control with a numerical level readout, what do you do?

For example, I am interested in a Luxman Integrated. How do you know what volume setting that you have chosen or do you simply have to constantly readjust to taste?

    Best,

Re: Luxman Integrated volume control question

The meters on the Lux do nothing more than appear to mimic the number next to the volume control.

You could also count the click on the volume control that also match the db#s

Great flexible units, any of them down to my 505uxii

Re: Luxman Integrated volume control question

My non-Luxman integrated has a digital volume readout but I often listen to music with the display off, particularly at night. I do the same thing Brian does. Starting at zero volume, I count the number of times I press the volume up button on the remote.

It works fine for me because I usually only need one to three presses of the button. If I had to go into double digits then it wouldn't be an ideal solution.

Re: Luxman Integrated volume control question

With unmarked VIVA and Absolare VC’s I’ve developed a sense of where to start with certain genres, formats, or labels, then developed a feel for how many presses on the remote will finetune. It’s all very non-exact and probably not good enough for Roomplay. I can’t remember which manufacturer/ dealer (nor which gear) recommended painting marks around the VC — you would need to see from the LP, so even if doable may not be aesthetically pleasing.
