Luxman 590AX Mark II - Such a home run!

Was finally able to get my 590 today after a UPS faux pas.

I absolutely love it and I still have a couple of hundred hours of break in to ride through. What a beautiful integrated.

I didn’t initially want to believe it, but Wow! It’s awesome.

Thank you very much. As I get a little older, the idea of integrated amps is so appealing. I’m very happy.

    Paul,

I really appreciate the push. This 590 is seriously good. Definitely brothers from another mother with great taste, not just same.

I’m guilty of asking for advice and not taking it. Mike, Paul and many, many others here - thank you very much for your opinion, knowledge and help. I should have learned to listen a long time ago.

That feels very familiar, I don't know how many times I've felt the same, but somehow it's part of the game that you have to try, learn and finding out yourself by following your heart and emotions. It's a hobby after all and what fun would it be to not have gone through all the steps that eventually brought us here?

Congrats to a great purchase! And yes, integrated are here to stay....

I can feel myself being drawn into the Luxman vortex. From all accounts it gives the E-650 a real run for the money.

I so badly wanted the E-800. I liked the 650 but wanted something that excelled on my Avantgarde Duos. The 650 was great on all my other speakers but left me a little flat on my Duos. I agonized over the 800 but after weighing all the pros and cons plus actual feedback from Avantgarde owners, it actually was a pretty easy decision.

I know I have a couple of hundred hours to go for break in, but hot damn, right off the bat on my Duos, the Luxman 590 rocks.

This just goes to show me again, the actual combo you are interested in needs to be auditioned. Don’t assume anything based on what you think about the relative strengths and weaknesses of gear. Also, price is largely irrelevant. I’ve discovered many gems at super reasonable prices.

Wow, she sure is a beauty on the outside and sonically. Congrats Joe. It was worth the wait and I’m glad you finally listened! I’ve been loving all my Luxman gear for several years now. Got some people looking at me funny when I said the M900 monos were top drawer amps. Now that these amazing amp are out there, I’m seeing the Luxman love! Congrats and enjoy. The 590AXII (measured by HiFi News at 95 watts/channel) is my favorite Luxman piece. Love it. Congrats and enjoy.

Yes indeed. Luxman was the sleeper. Sometimes our biases take over. No more prejudging anything.

    Thank you very much.

I’ve been through a lot of gear and am starting to think about consolidating. This Luxman checked all the boxes. I’m happy and actually very relieved how well it’s working out.

Avantgarde speakers, especially, thrive on tubes. Finding a great solid state amp that sounds great can be tricky. I’m happy to say that I’ve several that are awesome on my Duos. The 590AX mk II sits high on the list alongside the SIT3 - which another gem but needs more careful speaker matching. The 590 has the power to drive many more conventional speakers. Can’t beat that!

Since most of my listening is either late night or low to mid level volume, the loudness button is one I enjoy on occasion. Having the ability to cut treble for crappy recordings is awesome too. Luxman for the win!

Now I might have to revisit the C900/M900 combo. I had the preamp and loved it. Should have added the amp and settled down.

Maybe we do get a little smarter as we get older.

Break in is going well. I don’t obsess over sound on new gear. I take it for what it is. Even if this is it, I’d be happy but knowing I have higher levels of aural ecstasy ahead is exciting.

I think that’s only for vinyl, cutting out the rumble from turntables should there be a need for it.

Luxman offers a lot of features. It’s nice to see.

Thanks Joe. I haven't owned a vinyl system since the late 70's so I'm not familiar with the problems associated with turntables. Seems like a nice feature for those who would use it.

Now I really understand. First time having Luxman solid state amp in house. Super happy. Super musical and I still have more break in to go. Oh boy!

Congrats Joe! IMO, the L-590AXII is the best integrated value on the planet. I have owned the L-590AX and the L-590AXII. Don't worry about the E-800. I don't think you are missing much, if anything.

Thank you so much Greg. I think you are right. The Avantgarde synergy is what’s truly important and the Luxman has it in spades. I still probably prefer the Accuphase looks but it’s the sound that makes the difference.

    Congratulations on your integrated.

I was thinking Class A Lux would be a nice match with AG! Glad it's hitting all the right buttons so far.

    Hi Keith,

There’s a few amps now (solid state) that really make a beautiful match. The 590 is absolutely one of them - tied for number one with the SIT3 for my taste.

Joe, have you tried the Phono section yet? I suppose it's a step up from what I got, but pretty impressive for an Int and not a stand alone box.

Right now the RME ADI-2 is hooked up, mainly because it’s solid state and I’m not too concerned about leaving it on. It’s actually really awesome. I’m using the NOS filter which rolls it off a little early and warms it up a little.
