    US customers

Given some news media suggestion of possible change of US tariff for Hong Kong (where I work), I encourage US customers who are considering to purchase a Lumin to place your order ASAP.

    Re: US customers

Not wanting to relay unconfirmed information or comment on social or political issue, I'd respectfully request interested parties to google US Hong Kong special status tariff.

    Re: US customers

My understanding is that, currently, Chinese electronics are subject to a 25% Duty rate heading in to the US. Are you telling me that items made in Hong Kong fall under a different Duty rate?

    Re: US customers

"Hong Kong is one of the United States' biggest export markets and it has a zero tariff rate on U.S. imports."

What To Know About Hong Kong's Special Status And What Happens If The U.S. Removes It : NPR

This would include exports from Hong Kong to the US. This is going to be something to watch for in the coming days/weeks on whether this changes or not. Hence Peter's recommendations of ordering NOW if you're on the fence for Lumin devices.

And what if the item is made in hong kong but isn’t coming directly from hong kong?

Ex, shipping from germany to the US?

That wouldn't be affected. Only the shipping origin/destination are important.

    Peter,

First and most importantly - I am sorry, disappointed and disgusted to hear this news.

If I might ask, how soon and how much do you expect this development to affect the pricing on units sold and shipped to U.S. customers?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

I don't think anybody has an answer to that question except maybe the President. You can be sure he won't give any advance warning if/when it happens.

Please beware that you need to decrease the volume with X1 when switching from S1, because X1 output is higher than S1.

Thinking about upgrading D2 to T2, but if funds were tighter, I’d happily live with the D2 for years. That’s how good the Lumin products are, even the “entry level” streamer/DAC model.

End game in a couple of years: X1 (or maybe X2???)

As you already know, please burn it in 7x24 for several weeks by turning on repeat.

    Re: US customers

‘ turning on repeat’ ....?....do you mean playing a track over and over....or is there a repeat button...? It’s not enough to just have it on??

Yes, there's a repeat button as well as a shuffle button. It's best to repeat playing the current playlist.
