Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Hey there !
I finally bought my first Lumin!!! Lumin U1 Mini. I am very happy about it ! It works like a charm with my existing system.
I have some suggestions for you:
1- Improve the display of airplay: when playing a song through airplay, I noticed that the artist, the name of the song and time are not displayed on the front panel. Other devices (Marantz ND8006) can display this info. Any chance to make this happen?
2- Once I added a network library, Lumin organizes the library and the app shows many tabs: songs, artists, albums, genres... Any chance to make the user choose what tab should be shown and what tab should be hidden (like the composer tab for instance).
Best.

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Suggestions:
3- Is there any chance to launch a hardware remote control ? Or has anyone managed to control Lumin devices using a hardware programmable remote control?
4- Is there any chance to have a notification on the lock screen of iPad/iPhone when music is played on the lumin using the lumin app ? Just like the Sonos app

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Thanks for the suggestions.
For Lumin the iOS device is treated as a remote. For existing Lumin models, since they lack any sort of infrared or bluetooth receiver, a traditional remote is not likely to be supported.Peter Lie

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Sure. Just like Sonos devices have not any infrared or bluetooth receivers. But Sonos managed to make its devices work with Logitech Harmony for example (Bluesound and Heos devices too work with Logitech). And if infrared and bluetooth are not involved, what can it be? Maybe network control points progammed inside Logitech smart control hub.

All of my complaints about the Lumin App and it's shortcomings were solved by placing a Roon Nucleus+ in front of my Lumin! Roon brings a wealth of additional features and functionality.

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
I sold my Lumin A1 to a friend, he lent me his Oppo Sonica DAC until I got my new streamer Lumin. The Sonica DAC app is so sensillo, organized and easy to use that it gives pleasure. The Lumin app works very well on my ipad, but when I delete the list played there starts the problem (for example it does not recognize my external hard drive) I have to turn off and turn on the Lumin to work.

When I have an album up on the screen is there a way to highlight the tracks that I like so that when I go back to this album I don't have to play all the tracks again to get to the ones I like?

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
I'm not sure what the Lumin app can do but you can always re-tag the favorite songs using a free program like MP3 Tag. Would not be hard to change the track names and add something that tells you these are your favorites (e.g. add '-L' after the track name to designate you like it or just have the title in all capitals). If you use alternative software (I don't) with the Lumin App like JRiver, JRiver has the stars one can add in a separate field.

Back-up 1 - Premium Audio mini Gan Amp, Oppo 103D, 2 Richard Gray cond, Selah SA-2s, Sumiko S5 sub, Teac UD-503 DAC, Carver (modded) C-9

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
As Phil said, you may look into other control points to see which offer the functionality for favorites - I believe Lumin players support the widest control point software UI. I think Roon does, but I'm not sure, and it costs $699.

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
No difference in sound quality for me, but I’ve wondered if the front display could add “noise” to the output (USB in my case). So I keep the display off most of the time too.

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Not hardware team, but I'll answer this. Noise, if any, will be among the lowest among similar products - this is due to the display technology we chose. We don't find there is a noteworthy audible difference, but I've come across audiophiles or reviewer who really like to have it disabled.
Better yet, please have somebody else turn it off and on unbeknownst to you, do a blind test and tell me whether you hear a SQ difference.
(By the way, I know for a fact that a display panel COULD damage SQ. I had a faulty preamp that added a high pitch sound. The repair of that out-of-warranty preamp involved replacing the front panel module - for which I'm lucky because this turns out to be a standard part that can be easily purchased.)Peter Lie

Not sure if this was mentioned or exists....but for the people like me that use the Volume Control on the app...Can the Lumin App Team PLEASE add a feature that allows you to customize the volume max? so instead of 0-100 (default) ....how about user customization to 0-25 as an example? Thank You

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Hi everybody I have just aquired a Lumin A1 but I have some problems with the App.
I use it in a Samsung Note 3 tablet and the App you use to reset itself very often.
I have another problem.. the Lumin app is instaled in my tablet (Samsung Note 3) but when I go to Tidal my favourite albums they are showed alphabetically and I have no chance to change it to "..the last album added..."
I do not why I can not select this kind of sort in my Android tablet but one Friends has an iPad and he has this possibility of sort.
It seems that Lumin app in iPad have more filters or settings than on Android tablet.
Please let me know if there existe some way to apply this sort by "..last album added.."

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Dear Sir
I have a problem with the App that I will try to explain here below.
The Lumin app is instaled in my tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3) but when I go to Tidal then My Favourite Albums they are showed alphabetically by "Album title" and regretfully the App does not have the chance to change it to be sort by "..the last album added..."
I do not why I can not select this kind of sort in my tablet but one friends has an iPad and he has this possibility of sort.
It seems that Lumin app in iPad have more filters or settings than on Android tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3).
Please let me know if there existe some way to apply this sort by "..last album added.." in my tablet.
I will be waiting for your responses.

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
We'll improve the Android app gradually. If it does not work well enough for your needs, please try other compatible control points such as Bubble DS Next, Linn Kazoo, or get an iPad - which also gives you AirPlay (very useful).

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Dear Peter, many thanks for your response.
I´ve instaled yesterday night Linn Kazoo in my Samsung Note 3 and it runs more fluently, more quick and during the night it has never restarted.
Anyway the thing is that this App does not have the sort that I´m just looking for by "..the last album added..."
I will keep searching but yesterday night I was not able to find this kind of sort on the App.
On the other hand when I go to Tidal Albums it does not show which one is MQA in the main screen.. you need to select and album go inside it and on that moment it indicates if it is MQA or not.
Any idea of when the Team will be improving the Android App with some new fixed firmware..?

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Yes the icons for Tidal, Sotify, Internet Radios and HDD are present... but one of the missing ones are the one to sort by "..last album added.."
I think it is the "star" in your picture.
I really nedd it..
Also it will be important to have some way to sort by "..artist name.." cause te only way to sort is by "..Album name.." hence if I´m searching for an artisit first I need to remember the album name which is difrficult.. it is more easy to know the artist or grop name than the album name usually.
As previously mentioned by me it seems that Android App is not totally completed and it has several missing functions than the IOS App..McIntosh C302 + C2600 - Lumin A1 - Lenco L75 - Marantz SR6007 - Paradigm S6 - Gaia II - Chord Epic Twin Speaker Cable + Jumpers - Bada LB5500

Let´s hope Lumin people present a new fix on the firmware to solve these problems.

Regarding the 'last added' icon. Peter will know more, but my understanding is that this is feature of some server software and not others. It's definitely supported by MinimServer. It's also definitely supported on the LUMIN App for Android as I use it frequently (Google Pixel 2).[Associated with LUMIN]

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
I will try to explain better....
In Lumin App I select "TIDAL" ... then My "favourite Albums" and the problem is that all the Albums are mixed.
I can not see the "last ones added"... and I don´t have this button active.
On the the other hand I don´t have either the possibilty to index them by "artist" and they appear in the screen all mixed with no chance for sorting in this way.
Really I don´t know in my Samsung Tab 3 tablet and my Samsung Galaxy S8 the App goes very slow, also it use to restart itself a lot of times (very often) and the worst is there are no filters in the screen to be applied.
Yesterday I have tried with a LG mobile (from a friend) and it happens the same. After Lumin App instalation no filter for "..last album added.." appeared.
Let hope Peter can help and they create a new update for Android app.

Re: Some suggestions for the Lumin app
Ah - I didn't realise you were inside TIDAL. That's a completely different kettle of fish
We rely on the TIDAL API to provide us with functionality and I'm not sure 'sorting' is available. Peter will know more.
The tab icons shown in this image, don't apply to TIDAL, only local network servers and, like I said above I think the icons shown are dependent on the server being used, not the app.
So for example, using MinimServer, when you add a new album to your server folder, you can sort your whole music library by 'last added'. The filter then becomes a date search where you can search for data relevant to the date added, for example searching for 2018 will show all albums added to your server in 2018.[Associated with LUMIN]

My friend Andyk has an Ipad (previously he has a Samsung Tablet) and now he can see the "last added" filter/button on the screen.
That is why I´ve previously said that for Android the Lumin app has missing functions.

For music files on local network, you must use the freeware MinimServer on a NAS or computer.
