    Question Radio (Paradise) .flac streaming?

    Hi,
with "BLUSOUND" OS (node2i) this fabolous radio station stream in .flac (lossless) and a CD-icon will also show this important sound-feature.
    My question is:

with Lumin U1 and the Lumin 13.0a APP (last update) all radio stations are playing through "TuneIN" and the Paradise Radio stream with AAC code. (lossy)

So... is something wrong with my set-up?

    Thanks, Luca

    ...so my set-up it's correct I see.
If it's OK, is there a chance you will talk to your programming team?
    Thanks.

    Re: Radio (Paradise) .flac streaming?

I’m playing Radio Paradise through my modified Sonos Port into my dac. I’m not 100% sure but I think I’m getting a cd quality stream. Sounds awesome to me and I love the mellow mix stream. RP is so good, I felt compelled to donate. I’m not sure if creating an account and having sent money entitles me to anything special. But, OMG, most of the time when they pick the music, it’s like a revelation. So many wonderful songs that either I’ve never heard or absolutely love.

I think you are using BLUSOUND APP (the same for Sonos?) and if you see a CD-icon it should be a loss-less quality!

Same like you. I did it... Just 5 USD but... they are very good people with the "right intentions"... closer to my... (and your) soul.

    Re: Radio (Paradise) .flac streaming?

I don’t see any visible sign of the quality. My modified Sonos will upsample whatever it’s fed (up to cd quality) to 24/96.

OK; seems you don't use Blusound APP.
Try if you can use it with Android/iOS.

BluOS Controller - App su Google Play

    Re: Radio (Paradise) .flac streaming?

Lumin supports TuneIn, but it seems that Radio Paradise is not available as flac via TuneIn. In TuneIn app, flac is not presented as an available choice in stream quality.

Smile Re: Radio (Paradise) .flac streaming?

Well, here some (I hope) useful links:
    Radio Paradise

As I can see, the .flac is supported only by VLC and (?) players; TuneIN does not.
I don't know how the BLUSOUND APP stream in "CD" mode... is it VLC operated?

Anyway I hope Lumin will use the best streaming option possible. (AAC 320k)

Awesome. That’s the only reason I keep my Node 2i plugged in anymore (use the Lumin for all my other streaming needs); soon I can free up some space in the rack ;-)

Strangely these are not searchable within TuneIn - perhaps they don't offer AAC/MP3 versions?

    Peter

I think they are FLAC only especially Naim as much of the material is from their label. Have you guys though about switching from Tunein to vTuner as it seems to be more flexible.

I don't think vTuner gets FLAC streams. While searching for vTuner, I come across this requirement of $4 annual subscription:

FLAC. When I cancelled TIDAL a while back and moved to Qobuz I stopped listening to MQA and no longer care if my hardware supports it or not.

    Re: Radio (Paradise) .flac streaming?

A beta firmware for Radio Paradise FLAC, and more than forty other free FLAC Radio stations, is now available. For those who wish to try it, please let me know and state your Lumin model.

Although it is not going to receive a major version change, I feel this is an even more important functionality than the HiFi upgrade of a paid streaming service (that is supposed to launch before the end of the year), for the simple reason that they are free and therefore can be enjoyed by all Lumin users without paying for another subscription. Some free radio stations are donation-supported.

I'm listening to it while typing this.

I like Radio Paradice too, but mainly choose their World & Eclectic Mix channel. All 4 channels are now available (using Bluesound anyway) with MQA option and the sound is exceptionally good.

A feature I particularly like is that you can skip any track you don't like, or even the occasional verbal interuptions anouncing the channel you are listening to. Unfortunately you can't go back to the previous track!

Also the artwork can be shown with the 3 dots offering Wikipedia (or other) entries about the artist and links to the artist's Qobuz or Tidal offerings. Excellent!
