Re: My New Lumin
Just realized that the display on the D1 does not show the album artwork when playing a track, which my Cambridge CXN does.
I'll get used to it.
I do like seeing the artwork while I'm playing an album though, especially after spending ages embedding the artwork into each track.Boenicke Audio W11 Speakers with SwingBase; MFA Baby Reference V2 Passive Preamp; Lumin T2; Nord One SE UP NC500DM Stereo; SRM Arezzo Turntable; Ortofon 2M Blue; Michael Fidler MM Pro; 2 x REL S/510; Van Damme Blue series/Mark Grant

Re: My New Lumin
If you have more than one iPad, you can even leave one permanently showing the album art, and use another iPad for control. That's what we do in Lumin exhibitions.

Re: My New Lumin
Started using the D1 this morning and so far I'm not happy with the sound.
It sounds like there is a filter in front of the speakers?
I know the D1 needs a good few hours of use, but I was expecting more than this for the price!
I will have to get a Sbooster and see if that makes a difference, and from what I've read, it does.
But why make a top quality product with a rubbish power supply?
Perhaps the sound produced is different from what I had from my Cambridge CXN which I thought was very good and will have to get used to.

Re: My New Lumin
What do all the settings do when using the Lumin app?
If I remember correctly, the D1 can covert everything it plays to DSD and if it does, how do I turn this on?

Re: My New Lumin
I've just come across an explanation of the settings on the Lumin website.
I don't seem to have settings to convert to DSD though?
I have changed the setting 'Analog Audio Output Level' to low which has made a bit of a difference.

Re: My New Lumin
Turn on Custom Re-sampling. In the options for 44.1 to 96kHz, there is a DSD option.
Analog Output Level should set to Normal, unless your system has too much gain.
Use balance XLR cable if your pre-amp supports it.
Turn off Roon Ready if you don't need it.
Turn off Digital Audio Output if you don't need it.
Please fill in the playlist with music of different sample rates, turn on repeat, and let it burn in 7x24 for at least a week. Turn off the poweramp when not used.Peter Lie

Re: My New Lumin
I am using XLR cables.
I can't see the 'Roon ready' option?
Lumin Android app keeps crashing but 'BubbleDS next' works fine.
My preamp is passive so passes the audio through untouched.
I've turned Audio Output Level back to 'normal'.

Re: My New Lumin
You can turn off the power amp for burn-in.
Doing standby in Lumin app turns off the front panel and some outputs. It only saves a little bit of power, but as a digital player it does not consume too much. I think some amplifiers may consume much more power in standby.Peter Lie

Maybe the product is not for you so maybe you should choose something else as it seems you have many problems with Lumin
Have you thought of Devialet ?
It is maybe something you would like much better. !

Sorry but i do not follow you at all , i really think you should not wait as i am sure you will never be satisfied.
Be happy with your Cambridge , instead of all the worry´s from costing to much money to not be what you think it should be.
Or try Devialet.

Re: My New Lumin
I connected my Cambridge back up because I was not enjoying the music anymore, and straight away the sound was better and I started enjoying the music again.
Please don't think I only have negative things to say about the Lumin but for me it does not work in my system.
I can't understand why it doesn't, but with the Lumin I felt the sound had a veil in front of it.
With the Cambridge the sound is more separated and clear: I can pick out instruments better.
Perhaps there's a setting on the Lumin which is causing the sound I have which I should not have on?
I can't understand why it doesn't work with my system if it is a audiophile player: Surely it should work with any good system?
Could there be a problem with it?
I did not miss a beat since I turned it on and I will miss using it.
Not sure what I will do with it: Will the company I bought it from take it back or I will have to try and sell it.
I also have the Sbooster which I bought.

Re: My New Lumin
S.D. - I am really surprised at your last post. The Lumin D1 with Sbooster is an amazing source, so I am wondering what could be going on? Are you playing full resolution files through the D1? (I had a customer that was accidentally playing mp3's in the past) Do you have the volume control and digital out disabled? Any other pieces of the puzzle you can share to help determine if something is not right?
Thanks!

Thank God!
I reconnected the D1 and straight away the sound was as it should be.
The first time I connected the D1 I heard the XLR cables click into place but perhaps one didn't seat itself properly, who knows?

Re: My New Lumin
Good choice!
I upgraded from CXN to A1 one year plus ago.
Sent for repair one for faulty analog output. But settled by the distributor here in Singapore Audio88 without much issues.
So I am still a very happy Lumin A1 user now.
And looking forward for android app!!
