    Lumin U2 and X1 questions

I see that the new Lumin U2 supports both DSD and PCM upconversion, but don't see any mention of DSD to PCM conversion. Does the U2 support such format conversion?

With the hardware processing improvements and new chassis finish on the P1, T3, U2 and U2 Mini, is there a corresponding upgrade planned for the top of the line X1?

    Thanks!

Hi there. Yes, DSD to PCM is no problem. The resampling max is listed in each player.
For example with X1 you can resample up to DSD128 to PCM, but DSD256 and DSD512 are not possible.
With U2 it is available on DSD256 and lower.

X1 will remain our flagship Streamer+DAC for some time yet.

An example of the resampling menu options for X1 is attached on the right-hand-side

With a U2 or U2 Mini you may convert DSD256, DSD128 or DSD64 to PCM 176.4kHz, 88.2kHz or 44.1kHz. So it is ideal with DAC that uses old types of DAC chips or does not support DSD well.

Thank you both for your helpful responses.
I've read DSD to PCM conversions can result in high frequency noise or DC offset in the PCM signal, is that noise accounted for and effectively filtered in Lumin's PCM conversion algorithm?

Lumin DSD to PCM conversion involves some FIR operations. You may select 352.8 / 176.4 / 88.2 / 44.1kHz as output. At the lowest setting signal above 22kHz is no longer present.
