Lumin supports Tidal Connect
Have a brief listen. Playing through Lumin app sounds better to me compared to tidal connect.
More air and engaging to me

Re: Lumin supports Tidal Connect
For those who heard a difference between Tidal Connect and Tidal via Lumin app, please kill / force stop the Tidal app after starting playback. See if the SQ improves, and let me know.
Killing the Tidal app will not affect your Tidal Connect play queue because it’s in the cloud.Peter Lie

Re: Lumin supports Tidal Connect
Thank you for the update!
In my case, there is no discernible audio difference.
There are 2 radio stations that does not play. Lumen displays all station info except for the last line, stream info.
WUOT-HD2. http://tun.in/seAEU
ETV, http://tun.in/seqUk
BBC World Service now plays just fine; used to cause some strange behavior both in the app and Lumen.
Overall, 14.0 is a welcome upgrade...

Re: Lumin supports Tidal Connect
Tidal does not have their Connect services quite right yet.
Queue should exist on their server, not each Connected device.
So Lumen app has its own as does Tidal app. They are not aware of each other.
This is a major shortcoming.
Tidal needs to study Spotify Connect; even their public web API has one call to add-to-queue.
Disappointed.
-
July 21, 2021, 12:17 PM #8
Re: Lumin supports Tidal Connect
Tidal Connect queue in Tidal app is indeed on the cloud server.
Lumin app Tidal playlist is an OpenHome playlist, it is not Tidal Connect. Lumin app playlist and Tidal app queue are indeed distinct from each other.Peter Lie

Re: Lumin supports Tidal Connect
The latest LUMIN firmware brings TIDAL Connect to X1 / T2 / U1 / U1 MINI. TIDAL Connect is a new way to play TIDAL on LUMIN using the TIDAL App.
Simply choose LUMIN as your playback device from within the app.
Other v14 enhancements
Updated MQA decoding
Front panel display now shows Qobuz/Spotify/TIDAL text when streaming from those sources
Other minor enhancements and fixes
Firmware v14 is available to download now from our servers. Most users will receive a prompt when they next start the LUMIN App.
For manual update, or for instructions about how to enable automatic updates, see this page from our Online Manual

Re: Lumin supports Tidal Connect
Hi
Updating my T2 was successful.
My IPad Pro, Lumin, TIDAL App is all Updated.
But I cant See Lumin T2 on TIDAL Devices.
Only in the AirPlay Area I can See the T2.
Rebooting Wlan on iPad and Pushing the TIDAL App does not help.
Any Ideas ?

Please power down the whole network, starting from the WiFi router, and include the iPad and Lumin, Roon Core, etc. Then power them up.
If you can access the router setting, multicast routing and IGMP Proxy needs to be on.Peter Lie

Re: Lumin supports Tidal Connect
The settings I mentioned are on iPad system setting (for Tidal), not within Tidal app. If you are using Mac OS, the settings would be elsewhere and I don't know.
You need to find the speaker icon in Tidal app and tap it. If you use Tidal Connect, you use Tidal app, don't use Lumin app.Peter Lie

Re: Lumin supports Tidal Connect
It's not caused by the upgrade of Lumin firmware.
It's caused by Tidal switching over to OAuth login scheme, breaking the Lumin-Linn OpenHome Tidal interoperability as I mentioned last year:
Lumin app - Tidal OAuth login method - OpenHome
You can no longer use Linn app to login Tidal from Lumin hardware, or use Lumin app to login Tidal from Linn hardware.Peter Lie

Re: Lumin supports Tidal Connect
I've never tested it, but I think Tidal already has desktop apps for both Windows and Mac, and Tidal Connect should also work from desktops.
Lumin Android apk also works on Windows via MEmu emulator. This is now regularly tested and performance wise it's even better than on Android phones due to sheer desktop CPU and GPU horsepower.Peter Lie

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
