Wklie,
So I have a fairly high quality powered hub, do you think that will suffice for the Hard Drive and the Remote control?

I guess some powered USB hubs may work.
When will it be available in the USA?

Is there any news as to when we will be able to purchase the Lumin remote in the US?
Hi Lumin, will there be functionality in this remote to control other devices via IR programming?
No, that's not possible.
MSRP USD250, subject to change.

Looks very nice. I will be watching this thread for info on retailers.

Wklie,
I have an issue trying to buy one in France, the Lumin distributor requires from the shop to buy ten of them. And looks like it’s too much for the shop nearby Lyon as not enough customers are interested.
Do I have to questions all dealers accross Europe?
Yep

Such a cool product. Exciting stuff. We’re going to sell a bunch!!
Just order it from one of the big outfits in the UK.
Amplifiers, Headphones, Cables - Analogue Seduction
The French distributor offered a solution. Looks like the dealer information were not absolutely correct... Nevermind, now I’m happy.
Thank you for following up Trulyblue. It did sound odd - I can't imagine there are many small dealers who would pre-order 10 remotes - it's not something every LUMIN user is going to need or want.
Placed my order, I hope to get it next week!

I don't necessarily want to ruin the surprise, but here are some lovely unboxing photographs:

Our US Distributor is advising the price will be $299 for the remote. Dealers are also required to buy a small truck load. No one off orders. We have ordered our first truck load. [emoji6]
Still no ETA.

I am really glad to see such enthusiasm :)
I am sure this remote would make music even better
I am also sure that this remote would make Lumin U1 Mini a real 32bits player :)
So since my Lumin T2 has only one usb input (hint....weak link) which I use from the i7 silent computer with a rather pricey Shunyata cable to stream Tidal and Qobuz via Roon. I now have to buy a cheap usb hub to share the pathway in order to use a remote control? I think I'll pass at this time.
Just got the new Lumin Remote control! Really digging it!

If you use Roon on a NAS
You can buy a Logitech Harmony remote and install Deepharmony on your NAS to make your remote control Roon and then control your Lumin
And you can use that same remote to control in the same time, the streamer, the amplifier, the TV
And with this, of course, no need for this USB ugly receiver, Deepharmony works over the wifi with Roon
No need to buy this 300USD remote. Specs can be not true with all configurations with Lumin as it is explained here
There is an anomaly of file handling between the Lumin U1 Mini and my DAC - Lumin - Roon Labs Community
and here
Anomaly between my Lumin U1Mini and my DAC
And I would like to add that Lumin is copying Deepharmony process here
With this deepharmony, you can set the numbers on the remote to automatically play playlists and radios (eg press 1 to play Grown Jazz playlist on Tidal)
I think this is what is planned for the numbers on the Lumin remote
And no need for the Leedh volume, your amplifier will do just fine
Anyways this is something that already exists, with a way more capable remote (it can control all your devices at the same time)
All you need is just some geeking and it will work fine
That would be an option I guess. I like the direct path with as little interference for Roon in my system. What I have works well without mucking around with any added conditions just to have another remote. To those who can benefit with the new Lumin remote. Enjoy your new toy.

Ok. So I just gave you a great idea :)
So, a few criticism's on the remote.
It is twice as long as it needs to be. Especially if the upper most buttons will not be used.
The volume control buttons are smaller than the others and are hard to locate.
The remote should be back lit, similar to what Oppo used.
IMHO,

I have o say i like the look of the remote a lot it simply looks awesome , and think that when i upgrade my player i will simply want an remote also.
Looks good and slick. I won’t be buying it tho since I don’t really have a need for it.
I can hardly wait to get my hands on one. The ability to pause the music, skip a song, jump forward or back, and Roon compatibility are big selling points for me. I can see using it on the A1 in my main system, the D2 in the home office, and the M1 in the bedroom.
Yes, this is a situational value proposition for sure. At the risk of sounding downright lazy, the value to me lies in the ability to pick up the remote with one hand and hit one button to accomplish what I want. When the phone rings, I simply pick up the remote and hit pause, as opposed to grabbing the iPad, waking it up, bringing up the Lumin app and then looking for the pause button. Same for the other functions. Money well spent in my particular case.
Definitely situational. For me the value is in the whole kit; specifically the IR receiver. I can place it like an IR blaster in a place that gets the best reception (length of cord permitting). And, even more importantly for me, I can use the remote to make my Harmony Elite remote learn all the commands and I’m back to one remote to rule them all.
Just received the remote, plugged it into the USB and - off to the races.
It functions exactly as I was expecting, but what surprised me was how visually stunning it is. It is an unusual shape, longer than I expected. It has some substantial weight to it, definitely the second heaviest remote that I’ve ever owned. (The Wadia metal remote takes first place there.)
It rests comfortably in the hand, and the buttons that I will use often are in the middle region, making it extremely handy and functional. I got comfortable using it very quickly.
Yes - I mentioned it earlier, but I can’t overstate how beautiful the LUMIN remote is. The fit and finish are almost unbelievable. Better than reasonable expectations. It is evident immediately upon unboxing that this remote package was not an afterthought. The design and manufacturing come together to yield a finished product that is about as impressive as I’ve seen. A first-in-class remote, at least in my experience.
Thanks to LUMIN and their Austrian partners for hitting it out of the park with this one!
Thank you for your kind words JCS123. It's very difficult to take photos that show the quality of the materials and finish, but we've been trying and our product page will be updated soon.

Here's a personal, real-world use case of mine.
While I'm working at home and playing background music from Back to the Future or The Dark Knight soundtrack as part of Firmware 13.4 testing, I have an incoming call. I press the remote to pause the playback. If I don't have the remote, I'll have to unlock my Android phone, switch away from the phone app to Lumin app, wait for it to rediscover the Lumin hardware, and press pause. Then switch back to the phone app and answer the call (hopefully the caller is still waiting for me). (It would be easier if I have another device to control Lumin, but I don't use an iPad at home, although I tell every user to buy one.)
I started a topic about the remote control for Lumin, it was precisely for this reason.
Remote control for Lumin? message # 10
Peter !
Thank you !!
This is a revolution !!
With your personal use case of the Lumin remote control, I almost believe you invented the Remote Control ! You’re too good man. Thank you
An alternative remote control for LUMIN has been in development since 2018, but development is always subject to twists and turns (this year especially), so it was difficult to promise anything when we saw your post.
The addition of Leedh Processing and the resulting increase in volume control usage within LUMIN really focussed development.
Hopefully the new remote does what you hoped. It's definitely a little more expensive than some options we explored but so far dealer/distributor/customer feedback has been great.
Keep the suggestions coming!
