Lumin Firmware 14

I am just rolling in from fw 14a, SQ is excellent already and I couldn't compare it to earlier fw versions.

Talking about firmware, is there a list of improvements pending? And is input for future increments desired/appreciated?

The major feature to show up next should be Spotify HiFi. Feel free to share your suggestions.

My top 3 suggestions for future features:

1. Lumin player, possible to scroll a longer filename so that you can see how and what on the screen. Switchable to On and Off in the unit settings.

2. Lumin player, possible to remove the 2000 item limit in the playlist and expand it to more?

3. Lumin App, upon hold+press a folder in the audio library, do not add the files from only the folder that is hold+pressed but also add the subfolders thereunder, this helps fast creation of a playlist if your files are organized well

Considering that everyday more and more people are using Lumin as an unique Preamp in their systems my humble suggestions is to evaluate the possibility to include some "Tone Controls" or maybe an "Equalizer" in the app enabling us to correct problems in our listening rooms or maybe to adjust sound to our best preferences.

I know that some of this actions can be done through Roon but for the rest of people who do not use Roon it will be a nice upgrade i think.

Thanks in advance Peter.

Also would be nice if the Power on/off button is readily available in the main screen instead of hidden away behind the setup - options.

The functionality is there only because of OpenHome compliance.

In practice, I suppose most people use the Idle Sleep feature.

Peter, since installing 14.0a a couple of days ago, certain internet radio stations will not play via the Lumin App. Most will play, but some don't. They all play through Roon's Live Radio function and directly through Tune In. I tried deleting the problem stations from my Tune In favorites, updating my internet radio station settings in the Lumin App, then adding them back in to my Tune In favorites and again updating my Lumin internet radio station list, to no avail.

Many of the problematic stations are SomaFM streams (e.g., Deep Space One, Synphaera, and n5MD), but others are also affected, such as WKCR. Please check to see if this is in fact an issue with the latest firmware. Thanks.

Please internet upgrade the Lumin to Firmware 14.1

Thanks for the list, I believe most of them should work now.

For a few stations, the firmware is now able to select a higher bit rate for much better SQ.

Audiophile Baroque is offline, AFAIK.

for Spotify HiFi,
please build support into Lumin App ala Tidal and Qobuz
including queue management.

and by the way, with the latest firmware 14.1?, all my TuneIn stations play just fine.
thank you for quick fix and continuing support!

Not allowed by Spotify. Same reason as not allowed for inclusion into Roon.

which is not allowed? built-in integration or queue management or both?
Spotify does offer extensive public web api.

No, you misunderstood. What you asked is technically impossible due to Spotify requirements. There is no authorized way to access Spotify music other than via Spotify app.

as i stated earlier, Spotify web api is public and open to any registered developer.
as an oem, i'm assuming Lumin has even greater access, but you are saying No?
on second thought, i'd rather use Spotify app anyway.
thank you for the clarification...

I don't think the web API does what you think it will allow us to do what you asked for.

If you can find one API that retrieves the track music data, not metadata, not simply launching the Spotify app (which does not run on Lumin hardware - we run Spotify Connect SDK) let me know. On an embedded system where there is no browser, no Spotify app, you cannot play anything without Spotify music data.

Thanks much, Peter! You enable Lumin to continue to offer the best customer support in the streaming business. The quality and speed of your response to the internet radio station issue I raised is fantastic!

there is no confusion between web api and connect api, two different animals.
as a Lumin user, what i asked for is similar support for Spotify as you provide for Tidal,
an ability to browse through my library. obviously, this applies strictly to the app, not firmware.
