Re: Lumin Firmware 14
Update: the Qobuz lists load much faster now. The speed before firmware 14.1 was a mildly annoying issue compared to TIDAL in the LUMIN app.
Another nice surprise: One local station (WJR) that would previously never finish loading and begin streaming just now started streaming within a few seconds of clicking on it.
So far, firmware 14.1 has delivered several noticeable improvements with zero downside. (Disclosure: I didn’t have 14.0 up for long enough to see if any of the improvements over v13.4 were there before moving on to 14.1 a few days later.)
I can say this: The Bill Evan’s Trio’s “Sunday at the Village Vanguard” (Qobuz - Redbook upsampled to DSD 128) sounds like something that could have been recorded and mastered last weekend with the latest technology, NOT a show from over 60 years ago!

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
can it be that SQ wise the 14,1 FW is lacking some depth in bass? It tends to sound somewhat lighter to my ears.
PS can it also be due to the fact that I switched to a new streamer per replacement that is still in its break-in period? (it has around 80 hrs run time incl standby of which round 60 hrs playtime)

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
Please turn off unneeded services (e.g. Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Lumin Streaming for AirPlay, Tidal Connect. etc.), and let it play 7x24 with the DAC on but amp turned off.
You may also experiment different outputs, especially USB vs AES (with USB disconnected), to see which sounds better.Peter Lie

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
Just for listing/info:
I had already unneeded services and outputs turned off. (Tidal off, Qobuz off, Spotify Connect off, Roon Ready off, USB disconnected, AES off and BNC coax off)
I notice a very small difference in SQ between volume control off vs on. Leedh processing always on. Both on and off SQ is Ok though.
I seem to notice small difference in MQA settings Off vs Digital Out vs Passthrough option. The Digital Out and Passthrough option seem to sound better. I played 16bit 44kHz WAV.
Now looping a playlist for the next 7x24. I've always been curious about break-in time.

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
Hi Peter,
I'm pleased to confirm, that the firmware 14 updates solved my problems with the radio service(Tunein).
The last correct firmware for my Lumin A1 was 11.7. Till now with each new firmware release, I was forced to do fallback to the old one just to have radio service back.
Thanks a lot

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
I didn't even know there was new firmware until I saw this thread. In my settings I had the option to check for new firmware updates enabled, but I never got any notifications. I checked my current version and it was 13.0 so it seems I missed out on a few updates along the way. The only way I could get it to update was to toggle off/on the option to check for updates. It worked this time, I hope it continues to work in future.

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
@wklie, thanks for being always available and helping us out with trouble shooting.
Can you help me with this situation? My Lumin D2 just went dead. The RJ45 network are on, but it doesn´t wake up, or apear in Roon and Lumin App. Front pannel is off. I connect it to a Mitrastar G3P 2731 Router. I did the whole process 4 times at least. Power down modem, Lumin, Lumin App and devices with Roon. Started turning on the Router, the Roon Core, then the Lumin D2, then other devices. I tried this power cycle at least 5 times. No signal from my beloved Lumin D2. It can´t be found on Lumin app4.1.0, or Roon 1.8 Build 814. Any idea of what´s going on? Many thanks!

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
Glad it finally worked Dave. I think both Qobuz and Lumin both had the upgrades in the last couple of days so may have caused it. The Lumin upgrade was pretty major too.

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
Thanks Peter. I had been following the pre-release info on the UD-701 with the new DAC architecture but wasn't quite prepared for the $1500 price increase as that was a good bit more than originally thought.

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
Hello Peter,
A belated response to your request for comments on sq for 14.2. I only downloaded it a couple of days ago as I was "stuck" on the beta firmware. To my ears there is a significant improvement from beta to 14.2 for soundstage depth and breadth and instrument separation. I am a happy chap!
Using T2 with Ayre AX5 Twenty and Vivid Giya G3's and listening to classical orchestral and solo instrument music.

Can it be my ears or is fw 14.2 sounding more ‘compressed’ than fw 14.1?

How do you remove radio paradise stations inside the Lumin app? I’ve already un-favorited all the stations and they’re still there??

It's currently not possible to remove the default FLAC radio stations, other than doing a firmware downgrade.

Re: Lumin Firmware 14
Peter,
Utilizing the U1, I’ve noticed a difference in SQ for the better to my ears! Separation of instruments which gives it a wider soundstage and a greater tout low bass. I love it and please keep up the great work at Lumin developing ways to increase our listening experiences.
