Re: Lumin D2 review with measurements by Hi-Fi news
I can confirm the all-around excellence of the D2 on an absolute level, and especially considering its entry-level price. After having this in the system for a few months, it is, in my opinion, maybe the best bargain I’ve ever gotten on a new piece of equipment.
A side note about the lack of a comprehensive manual - I’ve yet to see a question that Peter Lie and/or other members of this forum can’t address. In my case, it was how to get the WiFi network set up properly, and my issues were addressed and sorted out by Peter in very short order. If anybody is on the fence about buying a Lumin, rest assured that you will get answers by reading through this forum and asking questions.
Again,

I listened to this unit today, it was driving a pair of persona 7f speakers and we were streaming music. I was offered no information about it but it was a integrated amp with a dac. I was asked my impressions after listening. With the persona 7f they sounded clear and detailed with a really clean top end. I also suggested it lacked a bit of Dynamics which is when I was told it was only 30 wpc which to me explained the limited headroom, but I was really surprised it was class d since it didn’t sound like the other affordable class d offerings I’ve heard. The quality over quantity choice in this price range.

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
