Lumin App for Windows 11 for PC

Is there an app for Windows 11 for a PC? Or if not an App perhaps a means to access the Lumin on my PC.
My 17" laptop screen would be better for viewing for my bad eyesight.

Don't know if there's useful info on a site like this - 10 Best iOS Emulator to Run iOS Apps On PC in 2022

You can use Linn Kazoo on Windows to control playback and browse music libraries, etc, but the LUMIN App is the only way to adjust hardware settings.
You can also use TIDAL Connect in a browser for TIDAL playback.

There is an earlier post that reported success of running Lumin Androd apk on Windows 11 Android subsystem, but we did not test it.

    Thanks for the replies.

wklie, I just tried the Lumin Androd apk and it was filled with advertising and downloads. I chose to uninstall it.

So, you are saying that Windows 11 cannot use the Lumin App?

There is no advertising in Lumin app or its download.

You must have searched for a wrong link.

The official download link is here:

Re: Lumin App for Windows 11 for PC

I don't think it will work with a PC, thus my questions. Looks like it will work with Mac, Androids but no PC.

I sent a message to Lumin and got a strange reply that I don't understand. Either my question was deemed not important or confusing.

I think it is a straight question.
Can a PC running Windows 11 download the Lumin app?
Not using some other Frankenstein method to maybe get it to function.

Ozzi - I've been considering a change of streamer, but like you, I want an app that is available on Windows (as well as Android and iPad) and I've concluded that most top streamer brands tend to leave their users without a comprehensive, intuitive and flexible control app. That's perhaps why so many users of these streamers resort to Roon with extra hardware and subscription demands.

My solution - pass by on these brands and use a streamer that can be controlled by BluOS apps. Basically NAD and (lower down the food chain) Bluesound. My NAD M33 is a brilliant bit of kit that's controlled by BluOS and the app is available on Windows, Mac, Android, iPad and Amazon Kindle. If you have Alexa, you can even shout at your equipment to get it to play what you want!

If anyone can suggest a streamer that is offered with an app that matches the flexibility of BluOS, please let us know. I'd seriously consider a streamer upgrade, but only if itcomes fully- app'd! Thanks. Peter

PS The list of brands that use BluOS has extended to include Roksan, Monitor Audio, Dali, psb and soon Cyrus and Peachtree. See -
BluOS – Premium Multi-room Music Software
Sources - NAD M50.2 (streamer, CD player, CD ripper, hard drive music store)
    Amplification - NAD M33 all-in-one, NAD M12 preamp (in reserve), Atma-Sphere Class D monos
Speakers - Avantgarde Duo XD, Avantgarde Duo (2006) - both aesthetically modified

Initially, tablets (iPad) were the main focus for the app. Phones came later. I still think a nice 9-10" tablet is the nicest way to browse my library/TIDAL/Qobuz.
I looked up the tutorials to get Android apps to work on Windows 11 and it does look a little convoluted (even though it's supposedly 'built-in').

When forced to use my PC, I use Linn Kazoo. It works logically enough even though it misses a couple of the nice features of the LUMIN App.
I'm not one to adjust hardware settings after initial setup, so that aspect isn't a problem.

My problem is that I have trouble reading smaller print, as probably most of the older generation does. A larger screen would make viewing more enjoyable.

Yes, I totally agree that the likes of Lumin should do more to help their customers use the products they sell. Why should we have to use poxy little phone screens to access our music? I hate using phones (or for that matter tablets such as iPad) to access music. Why? Because any slightly heavy-fingered prod of the screen results in our music being interupted and substituted for something else! How bloody rude is that!

I much prefer a mouse-based device where such interuptions are unlikely, text is large enough to read and the screen can show on one page what a phone needs endless switching between screens to achieve. That's one of the main reasons I advocate the devices that use BluOS. And in fact the NAD M33 is also a first class box of tricks that I'm having real difficulty in upgrading for less than £10-12K. Frankly I doubt it's possible, but if anyone has workable ideas (one or two box solutions), I'd very much like to hear from them.

I'm aware that this is only one small part of the puzzle (and I'm listening to the other points made), but it's worth noting that the LUMIN App has double-tap setting for playing music which largely eradicates this problem. It's something I use exactly for that reason.

I would give Roon a try, they have free trials available if you insist on using a computer.
I have Roon, but have decided to let it expire and just use the Lumin App,Tidal App and hopefully Qobuz App ( does that exist?) on my IPad. I live in Canada, so we are patiently waiting for Qobuz. May I also suggest a pair of reading glasses, I broke down and bought a pair a few years back.😉

    Hello Ozzy,

i use "Linn Kinsky" from my laptop. It's made for Windows not for mobiles like their newer app "Linn Kazoo". It runs on my Windows 11. You can adjust the icon size with the slider at the bottom (first click at the 3rd icon from the left below).

No Quarter, I had Roon on a trial basis, but I think the Lumin App gave better sound quality. So, I didn't renew it.
Carlo, with that download, how do I then use the Lumin download?

Well i have to tell you that Lumin does not force you to buy their products , maybe you should look around for other streamers that can do what you ask for. I think that Lumin does a lot to evolve their product, also based upon request from customers. But it is just my view.
Sorry Hear Here , if i sound a bit sour....but i simply dont think your comment is okay.

What is so wrong with wanting a company to provide a Windows 11 download? I spent a lot of money on the Lumin X1.
    Do you think it's possible?

I disagree and I'll tell you why.

Using an iPad or phone or any touch-screen device, what happens if you inadvertently prod the screen slightly heavy-fingered? The music you were enjoying is rudely interrupted by whatever was under your finger when you touched the screen. I hate this, so use these devices as little as possible and stick with good old Windows and a mouse that can explore without the danger of a heavy-fingered prod!

I will pass on any streamer that doesn't offer a decent choice of well-designed apps that are easy enough to understand that you can invite your friends to choose their music. Not many apps do this, so I'm sticking with BluOS until I find a streamer that sounds better than my NAD M33 and offers as good an app as BluOS. Any suggestions very welcome, though I don't really want to resort to Roon with its extra hardware plus a subscription. Thanks

You do realize that on many (if not most or all) tablets one can adjust the font size - e.g. Adjust the display and text size on iPad - Apple Support

Please see my message above (with images of the settings). I'm aware that it doesn't solve all the problems, but this problem in particular is helped enormously by selecting "double-tap" in the app settings for both Song List and Playlist . I absolutely hate it when a tap in the playlist will change song, so this has been my setting from the very beginning.

Re: Lumin App for Windows 11 for PC

The font size can be adjusted on the iPad, and you can stretch the size of the pictures. But for some reason the Lumin AP still won't change the font size on the Playlist. That's hard to read and kinda strange.

    wklie,
Why don't you just look at the Lumin website for the downloads? IT DOES NOT show windows available as a download.
Why Lumin cannot provide that feature is beyond me. Must be a money thing...

But I use BluoOS, apparently a far more sophisticated and intuitive app than the Lumin one. As far as I'm aware, there's no "double-tap" option for BluOS. Are you aware of one? Thanks

I do not recall there being an option for double tap on the BluOS. There is one on the Lumin app though. All you have to do is go to "Settings" and scroll down to "Tap to Play in Playlist". You have two options. Single tap or double tap.

    We provide Android apk download.
One user said it works under Windows 11 Android subsystem. We have not tested that though and it's not a trivial procedure.

At your own risk you may use MEmu Android emulator on Windows. We know for a fact that it works with Lumin apk.

Just checked on the "MEmu Android emulator" you have to create an account to use it.

Come on Lumin or wklie or whomever, just provide a straight Windows 11 download.
    Why is that so hard?

We will wait for Windows 11 to make further advances to facilitate running Android apk.

Meanwhile, there are various fine Windows options to control playback of Lumin, from Roon, Linn apps, or even JRiver. If you use Tidal or Spotify, you can use Tidal Windows app and Spotify Windows app or web browser.

Re: Lumin App for Windows 11 for PC

If you all will, please allow me to chime in here. Ozzy makes some good points and while some folks do not like his responses? This is actually/honestly why I joined this forum.

To find out how I can get a Windows based operating control panel that operates the Lumin.

I got spoiled with the BS Node2 when it first came out. It was cheap and gave me an insight to NAP's. While the sound wasn't to my liking? I upgraded to an external DAC. It was better but still left things lacking and me yearning for more.

Then I heard a friend of mine's system (much like mine but with a different set of speakers...the Focal Grand Utopia's) and wanted to explore this "thing" called streaming even further. It sounded great to these ears.

A VERY long story short, I bought an Auralic Vega G2 and sold the rest. This catapulted me to a whole other level. Then, I tried to extract everything I could out of it and while it sounded great? I still yearned for more. So, I listened to systems/streamers and choose the Lumin U1 and immediately (without even hearing it), upgraded to the X1 PS for it.

Little did I know, the operating apps dwindled with convenience, the more I upgraded. I was spoiled with the BS Node2. Easy Peasy. I could operate that sucker on anything I had in the house. The Auralic? I could hand the brand new (at the time) iPad to anyone at the audio event and I dd not have to explain to ANYONE how to use/operate the Vega G2. It was user friendly. The Lumin app? Not so much.

Both the Lumin and the Auralic restricted me on play back vehicles. Neither would allow me to simply play or change a song on the computer. This is where most of my day (at home) is spent during a work day. With the BS Node2? If a business call came in, I could simply hit "pause" on my computer and take a quick phone call. Then hit, "play" when the phone call was over. While I was waiting on something (or even if I wasn't?), I could simply change the song/album and get immediately back to work.

    THAT is convenient.

What isn't? Having to hear a phone call come in....scramble to find the iPad, turn it on....wait for it to come on and then scramble for the app to show up, just so I can hit "pause". This, unless I was on top of it immediately? Seemingly happened right before the phone call got disconnected. Aggravating, to say the least. Same thing when I went to hit, "play" again....turn the control unit on, wait for the app to load up and display and then back to work. Time is money!

Both of the latest units were expensive. Both of them offered better sound. Out of all of them? The cheapest of the bunch was the BS Node2. It was also the most convenient. One click and I was on the next song/album/mute/play. That was as easy as it gets.

Cost of the new gear aside, if such a cheap unit can operate (or be operated) in such a convenient manner, then why wouldn't a unit that costs.....(we shall just say for now, a lot more, and leave it at that) much more thwart the convenience side?

The response I have gotten from both sides is that Windows is a very intensive process to make happen in conjunction with their gear. Okay, then how does BS Node do it, yet offer something at 1/10th the price?

Taiko knows how to do things, IMO. They listen to their customers. They adapt, they are motivated by the customer base but the most important thing is? They listen. Are you listening? Ozzy and I are not the only ones that are perturbed by the lack of support/interest when it comes to a Windows based "remote". You can take that to the bank.

Or you can leave it alone.

I do LOVE the sound in which what I am getting now. It is beyond what ever thought possible for streaming. Well beyond, in fact. I am glad that your focus has been on that (Same with Auralic) but at the end of the day? Not everyone likes Apple products. Not everyone operates their system by a phone. Holding a 9" or larger screen or a magnifying glass isn't what I would consider "convenient" and wearing glasses while listening just to see what's up next or to read the notes whilst listening? That's unacceptable and even MORE inconvenient.

What I (and others) are asking is for you to seriously consider a vehicle to where no sound signature/alteration of the signal can be used, utilizing a Windows based system. If a company that sells a streamer for less than $500 can do it? Surely a company that is well regarded and sells for multiple times that amount can do it too. Even if it is only for basic functions.

Re: Lumin App for Windows 11 for PC

As someone who has owned multiple streamers from Auralic and Lumin I guess I'm a bit confused. If a streamer companies software doesn't meet your "convenience" requirements why did you buy it to start with? If BluOS is your convenience choice in streamer software then NAD make multiple unit far more upscale than the Node. If convenience is more important to you than the sound quality then buy from someone whose software fits your needs.
