Lumin app - Tidal OAuth login method - OpenHome
This week we are launching new versions of Lumin firmware 13.3 and Lumin app (iOS app 7.x, Anrdroid app 3.x) to support the new and mandatory Tidal OAuth login method.
Impact on Lumin hardware users when using Lumin app (not Roon):
- You will be prompted to login Tidal again, in the form of a web page
Impact on non-Lumin hardware users using Lumin app (not Roon):
- No impact at this moment as we are not removing the old API support from Lumin app (yet)
- However, once Tidal decommissions the old login method in the near future, you will no longer be able to use Lumin app to browse / play Tidal Music on your non-Lumin hardware
- To my knowledge, the current OpenHome API public web page is not updated to support Tidal OAuth login, so Lumin implementation of Tidal OAuth is proprietary rather open
- If you are planning to buy non-Lumin hardware and use Lumin app to control it, I suggest you buy Lumin hardware instead. Lumin can withdraw app support for non-Lumin hardware at any time
Impact on Roon users:
- No impact
Note:
- I don't know when the old API will be decommissioned, likely not far from now.
- For more technical information, google "Tidal oauth login" about open source projects

Good luck. All this streaming seems to be nothing but trouble. I might try it in a few years once all the kinks and bugs are worked out.

Peter -
Thanks for the update and information. When using the Lumin app on Lumin gear, is the new Tidal login function a one time action to reset permissions or every time the user tries to use Tidal?
Thx!_______________

Re: Lumin app - Tidal OAuth login method - OpenHome
I saw now that i hadn't downloaded new firmware on Tidal, so maybe that was the reason. Thanks.

Re: Lumin app - Tidal OAuth login method - OpenHome
Please tell me the firmware version you're running (in About function of the player) and the app version (in a different About function).
Then, please make sure you're running Firmware 13.3 (in About function of Lumin), and running the latest apps 7.x for iOS and 3.x for Android. If it's still not working, please factory reset the Lumin hardware using the Lumin app, under the About function.Peter Lie

Re: Lumin app - Tidal OAuth login method - OpenHome
Hi Peter,
Actually the same problem like "srt".
After the update 13.3 I have to log in to Tidal maybe at every 2-3 hours. The unit is a T2, using 13.3 and 7.0 on Iphone. Any fixes?
Thank you!

Re: Lumin app - Tidal OAuth login method - OpenHome
Do you have Tidal logged in from other devices such as Tidal app on your smartphone and your family members' smartphones? No more than one device should have the same account logged in.
What country are you in, and from what country did you create your Tidal account (if different)?Peter Lie

Re: Lumin app - Tidal OAuth login method - OpenHome
Peter, I have the same account on an Iphone and an Ipad. Because these two devices were connected with the T2 in the same time could have caused the problem??
Probably same Tidal account on my wife's Iphone as well but it was not playing any music when I had the issue.
I am located in Romania.
