Fuses in Lumins?
I've been reading about after market fuses being used in CD players among other things and was wondering if our Lumin products could benefit from them? I don't really know if they even have fuses in them.

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
Good question Mark..I would think your A1 and S1 standalone supply has a fuse and you would think the D1 Lumin's had a fuse near the AC circuit.

If you go inside, don't you void the warranty?

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
From the Lumin US distributor's website:
Lumin in the USA or Source Systems, Ltd, in the USA will not service product under warranty that have been opened by end-users, modified or altered. Modifying products immediately voids all warranties from Lumin in the USA.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON MODIFIED PRODUCTS!
Products modified (or “Modded”) by third party companies render Lumin products unserviceable by us.
Modifying products immediately voids all warranties from Lumin in the USA. More importantly, since we do not know what these “mods” are, how they affect other circuits within the Lumin product and most importantly, affect the timing and control functions within the product, we are not able, at any cost, to repair a modified Lumin product. Modified products should be returned to the modifier or upon prior approval, the overseas factory for service if and only if there is direct factory approval for such return.

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
For X1, T2, S1, D2, U1, U1 MINI you can find the fuse at the back of the unit/power supply right next to the IEC socket.

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
How about for the D2? What type of fuse does it use? Out of curiosity does changing fuse make a big improvement on sound quality?

5x20mm.
It'll be functional, as for whether it is less protective in case of surge, I don't have the expertise to answer that.Peter Lie

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
Hi guys
I really need your help
Can you tell me How to get the top lid of at my A1 psu? (I want to change the fuse).
I can’t find anything online and I then I tried to remove the four screws in the back and further more the two holding the coils in place, and now the coils are loose but still not the lid. It looks like it must be moved backwards but I can’t move the damn thing?
Kind regards

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
I would make sure you can get your money back if you find no difference or degradation in the sound quality after changing to a boutique fuse.

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
Hi guys!
I am completely new here and i found this thread because i need your help. My Lumin D2 stops to respond in anything except two green ethernet lights in a back place (on a time to plug in the ethernet cable). i had the unit disconected for 6 months because of my seasonal job out of my home. Without power or something like that. I mean it was out of power plug, not only switch off.And in my first day i tried to switch on all my sound machines. All works perfect except Lumin. Its completely dead (except the two green kights). The reset hole dosnt work, the screen no respond in everything, its completely empty, and the machine ofcourse dosnt appear in any network in my home. I wonder if the fuse need change, or ....something on the power...?

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
Thanks Peter. The problem is i did not take it from my country because we don't have official sellers here (Athens, Greece). I bought it from Austria, from Smarthifi. I don't know exactly what is the best now? To send it in Austria or in Lumin factory in China?
I have the receipt but the warranty expired on February 2021 (my bad luck....but that's life!).

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
Hello alexandros,
maybe your unit only want to install a update (current Firmware 14.2). Make shure that it is connected to your network. Maybe you must activate the update option in the Lumin app.

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
Maybe you want to check your fuse. In my U1 mini it's next (integrated) to the power connector. It's a F2AL250V. You must pull out that sled. Then you see the fuse.

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
Thanks Carlo again!
How pull out the sled? I have the same case and power connector with yours. I tried with my fingers, its impossible. I tried with a knife inside the borders of the sled but i am afraid for broken something. I know you thing i am little bit ...stupid but believe me i tried. Except if there a special way to open the sled and i dont know this way.

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
Since your Ethernet LED works, your fuse is not faulty. Please don't take it out, and follow the instructions in PM.

Re: Fuses in Lumins?
The fuse sled can break very easily. The USA dealer was Zero help on finding a replacement. I was able to find one myself however.
I am now using the QSA red fuse and it is impressive in this unit.
