    Double 11s

I don’t change gear that often having owned 5 pairs of main speakers over 50 years. When I decided to dip my toe back into the market after living with my Sonus Faber Stradivaris for almost 8 years, it was with a large helping of trepidation. Having a dealer like Mike with a large experience bank and a seemingly unending amount of patience helped move me forward. Two visits to his showroom allowing me to listen to what I wanted was the clincher. “Here is my iPad and the remote control, let me know if you need anything”

Two and a half months later and I am very happy. My new Kharma Elegance dB-11-1.1-S (official model #), are settling into my room.

My Strads are pissed and moved to the bar.

I will add more on my process and their sound after they have played consistently for 3 or 4 days.

Here are a few pictures of the delivery and install process. It took three of us and a PowerMate M1 stair climbing dolly almost 4 hours to get them upstairs and uncrated. We could not have done it without the stair climber. Each crate weighs 260lbs. I insisted on not removing the speakers downstairs and just carrying them.
Main Equipment: Kharma Elegance dB11-S, JL Audio F113v2, Block Audio Line & Mono SE Amplification, Bricasti M21 DAC, Antipodes Kala K-50 Server, ClearAudio Performance SE, Satisfy Arm & Maestro Wood MM Cartridge

    Re: Double 11s

Congratulations! They look good in your room (with matching wall paint too )

Given that the Stradivaris were regarded as one of the best SF speakers, the DB-11s must be something else.

Congratulations Craig! They look great in your room. As we discussed over dinner, I’m sure the Bricasti amps are driving them nicely.

    Enjoy the music!

Hey Nikhil, My Bricasti M28s are having no problem driving the dB-11s to any level within my comfort zone. Their neutral behavior provides a good balance to what seems like a general warmth and musical nature of the Kharmas. The low end is tight if a bit overblown right now waiting on final placement. Final placement has been delayed upon Mike’s suggestion to wait until after 200 hours.

Break in is real. As I was sitting here today, the tweeter arrived and they began opening up and disappearing. Crazy phenomenon.

Congrats on your DB11S!!! They look gorgeous in that color. I’ve listened to these speakers and they are amongst the most natural sounding I’ve heard.

    Enjoy,

    Re: Double 11s

The dB-11s are pretty well settled. I have been doing a lot of listening as I am demoing an Antipodes K-50. A win-win of a reason to spend time with the Kharmas.

Zero toe-in, they are 138” tweeter to tweeter and my ears are 156/7” away from the right and left tweeters. The slight difference is to adjust for the room and center the image. This ratio is slightly more than suggested but it’s the best I have found so far. The speakers are largely disappearing.

My focus now is moving to slowly treating the room.
