Since I can't imagine being able to afford Reference 1's, 3's, or 5's any time soon, or ever, I have been reading about and seriously considering the R series.

If I buy new speakers the chances of them being KEF is extremely high. Always been a KEF fan boy :)...

Thinking maybe the R500 and keep my Kube subwoofer... input?

Or if I move my First Watt amplifier (God it is an amazing sounding amp) then the R700's...

Dang, nice looking also. If they are still available when this job things get worked out they may be the ones!

I think I am seriously looking at the R700's. I have done quite a bit of reading and some of the reviewers are saying they share a lot with the Blades, similar drivers, etc. I have read that these are closer to the Blades then the Reference series actually. They are also much easier to drive then the Ref's (especially the Ref 1's) which makes them match my current amps much better. One reviewer also said that they test more similar to a typical 4 ohm speaker and was actually a little surprised that KEF rated them at 8 ohm.

Now have to figure out how to afford them :), and which color, either Black Piano or Rosewood.

Contemplating selling my awesome MC monitors, with the Gingko stands and the REL sub.

Also thinking about selling the First Watt... but that may not be right now. I am thinking that the R700's might be even easier to drive then the MC's, and if this is the case then keeping both amps may work out nicely :)....

We hosted our audio club meeting earlier today. Everyone told me to keep the MC speakers. They all love how they sound with the Audio Research amp... so now I am more confused... both sound great... got to step back and ponder a bit on this one :)...

Still Jonesing for KEF's though :).... would love Blade 2's, but no way can I afford these. I read some reviews that were saying the R series use drivers that are closer to the Blades then those that are used in the Ref series....

I might still go with R700's anyway. Honestly, at this point it is either stay with the MC's or go with KEF's for now.

Ah just jump up to the R700 awesome, if ya need just a little more bass the R900, but you have a sub so your good to go with the R700 . Yep heard the R700 at my local dealer in Jacksonville, very nice, but the Blades 2 oh my. Maybe one day, but the wife thinks they look like little people with one eye. Women.

I wish there was a dealer in my area :).... I would love Blade 2's, but no way will I be able to afford them. It was funny when I was telling some club members about wanting R700's. They all replied, "Are you nuts, these MC's are amazing". Yes they are pretty special... made in Germany by Wolfgang Meletzky, but I always loved KEF's.... and have read some great things about the R700's....

God Joe, there you go again, being a party pooper :D.... I know what you say is true, of course... There is also something about having the KEF name in my system. Back in the day, after getting my 104aB's I never considered another speaker. Nothing gave me that sound that I loved so much... even the speakers I have heard at friends houses don't cut it for me (even the $35k speakers I listened to at Jon's house that he was reviewing).

I loved the sound of the LS50's and EJ's Reference 3's are fantastic... the KEF sound that I love so much...

Beg, borrow, steal or rent the KEF speakers but hold onto the MC for a while. Live with the KEF and then make a decision. I have no doubt the KEF are fantastic. And, honestly, as good as the MC sound, finding a buyer for them might be more difficult.

LOL... my guess is YES he is :)....

I also think you are right about selling the MC's. Probably a very difficult thing since no one knows of these speakers. I do not believe they were ever sold in the US. The pair I have were brought over for a show (address to Las Vegas show is listed right on the box)....

I just decided and ordered the KEF R700's!!! Very much looking forward to getting them :).

Sorry Joe, I lobbied for the Rosewood but Cheryal made the final decision. Piano Black it is, but Rosewood did make it to the final cut :D....

OMG! Congratulations Randy. Can't wait for photos and your thoughts.
