Valuation: Need value of Atma-sphere MP1 Mark 1 pre-amp please!
Hello everyone! I am a new member who needs an informed estimated value of a fully functional Atma-sphere MP1 pre-amplifier, preferably from at least 2 or 3 sources. This was the first in a series of MP1’s that were manufactured in St. Paul, MN, and was last serviced by Atma-sphere and is in fine working condition. If there is a site that one can access for past sales that would also be extremely helpful. Can anyone please help?

According to the Audio Blue Book, the MP-1 listed new for $7,695 has a current retail used value of $1,772 - $2,165 with trade in value of $805 - $983 in average condition or $1,155 - $1,412 if mint.

You might try www.hifishark to see if other models are currently up for sale and how much, you can also see how much was asked for past listings.
How old is your model? Typically a piece sells for around half original retail. The Bluebook wasn't kind but rarely is. Other factors come into play as well, brand recognition, if the piece is sought after etc.

I have seen the second and third series selling for $8000-$10,000, so as usual the Audio Blue Book is lowball.

hifishark.com is a great resource. You can search back 10-yrs and find closed listings in No. America and RoW. IMO, its a more realistic indicator of what the market will bear.
