    Lightbulb ...And here's mine ....

Rob, it is one of my goals to contribute at AudioShark in a way to build with all the people here the best audio forum of the entire Internet. ...Team work.

Slowly, but surely, and one day at a time I am inviting some of my best friends spread all over the forums I frequent.
I want to keep the light that Mike, Joe and Mark started illuminating with the illumination in the most essential luminosity.

I want to always relax here, and feel completely free to share all the good stuff inside and outside life.
...My own and only destination is the Truth from all its colors; because the ultimate truth is to live happy and in peace with all.
...Some' very very close to that anyway.

Count me in as one of the refugees that jumped into Rob's lifeboat. I'm...well I'm JohnVF there, too. A former moderator and current co-member of the year at the place...resigning my duties there, I suppose. Sad what kinds of absurd hypocrisy can do to take the fun out of a forum.

Haven't so much left there as I have just stopped posting from being tired of the hypocrisy. "We're not snobs except that we hate and mock everybody who doesn't do things like we do". Umm..ok. That's what a snob is.

Great summary John..its a shame too because THAT forum has a great NICHE in terms of legacy and DIY ...but there is a certain vocal percentage that just don't LISTEN or add value. You ask for specific cart advice and they tell you that your turntable sucks...or always looking for a negative..

Anyway, so glad you (and some others you probably know well) are in the lifeboat...Its more like a yacht...LOL

Nobody but nobody likes to have their gear knocked down there is a reason why whe buy that gear, it may not be to everybody's standard BUT in life you don't always buy what you WANT you buy what you can AFFORD and for the space that you have, you also have the same rights as the ones that can afford the best.

It was an interesting case at the place we're referring to. In that there seemed to be the opposite attitude of a lot of places. As in, you were only allowed to spend a certain amount without getting mocked in not so subtle ways, and even when you were thrifty enough, it had to be towards the agreed upon type/brands/era of gear. It was about as clear of an example of an information silo I have seen on the internet. Actively keeping minds closed to anything but the agreed upon way of doing things and shouting down any who disagreed of dared try something different, whether more expensive or a cheaper item then the agreed upon bar-setting choice. So many audio forums have their bias(es), of course, this was just another one. Its now almost entirely a vintage site, though it has a great wealth of DIY expertise if you can get past the eat-the-rich attitude prevalent in nearly every thread. And a lot of good people being swamped by some really arrogant people who think they're not snobbish at all because their snobbery is targeted at a different group, or rather, an imagined group (the haughty smoking-jacket-clad audiophile that they've never actually met but who makes a nice straw man to some curious positions ...well you get the point).

I don't write this to bring negativity here. I'm just very frustrated...I gave a LOT of my time and energy to that place, to the tune of nearly 30,000 posts and several review threads and its not with any glee that I walk away from it.

I'm happy to be here Mike. While I don't have the time anymore to devote what I gave to my previous audio-home, I do hope to help out where I can here with reviews of gear and whatnot. I'm lucky to live in a great audio-town here, where I'm decently connected with many of the players on the ground. It equates to a lot of good times listening to different types of gear, from current to classic. I have to say, though, that many of the systems in use hear blow away much of what I've heard. There's a lot of great gear in use by members here that I'm really very curious about.

I am another newcomer here as a reference from Rob. I am Shelly_D on both forums and I am glad to have another place to post and discuss. I won't dwell on my bad experiences over on the other forum, and I haven't completely given up on them, but sometimes I get tired of seeing myself attacked as has happened recently. I am rather impressed that just by joining up and not even posting yet (this is my first) I have already had 2 friend requests. I can't think of a better first impression, Thank you.
