    I hear voices...

I've been hanging around here for a while, mostly as a passive reader, but as I've also started posting every now and then I thought it's maybe time to introduce myself...

I live in Sweden outside Stockholm and I've only been into hi-fi for about 10 years, but then I got really hooked on the other hand, I'm learning quickly and sometimes it almost feels like I'm trying to make up for lost time. Music has always been a great part of my life and unfortunately I spent most of my younger years listening to music with quite modest equipment. Luckily a friend took me shopping for better things, and I got myself an entry level Naim Nait integrated with canadian Totem Arro speakers. When the Hegel HD10 DAC was released I bought it right away, and I guess in a way that was an eye opener how the sound could be transformed to the better and I started exploring all kinds of tweaks and different DAC's etc.

That was the beginning of my hi-fi journey, a journey in which friends and family would probably say that I change things a little too often, but I don't see it that way, I always appreciate what I have, but I'm constantly thinking about how things can be improved in different areas or taken to the next level, because it always can one way or the other. I do a lot of research before buying something, that's part of the fun, I don't think there can be anything left to read online about a product I'm getting. It's very important to not forget to listen and enjoy the music though, because that's ultimately what it's all about in the end.

A lot of equipment has come and gone during these years. I do not want to build a hi-fi storage or museum though and my philosophy is that if something new comes in something has to go. I got rid of my vinyl rig as it couldn't keep up with my digital toys. Some things have made such a remarkable difference or impact on me and in my system that they're never going anywhere though.

I'm a huge believer in cables, power distributors and decouplers etc. I've personally been completely floored by the change cables have made in my system and today I almost value my cables higher than anything else, a lot of things are replacable, but not my cables how weird it might sound. Another thing that gave me a "wow" effect lately was the introduction of a preamp, for a long time I tried to live without one, may it be passive, active, tube, whatever... I didn't want one more thing in the chain. Let's just say I've changed my mind, the preamp is the heart of the system. I was wrong. Everybody else was right.

Having an open mind, discovering "amazing" new things, learning from each other, through testing things ourselves and sharing with others... I guess that's what makes this hobby so fun.

    Cheers!

Thank you. So I'm posting a pic, but it doesn't really show that much... everything except preamp and speakers are hidden away, for good and bad, some people like to listen with their eyes which I can understand, but for me there's several good reasons for hiding everything away, and especially my cats found the tubes on my DAC and the warmth of the amps a bit too fascinating, so it feels good not having to worry about that anymore.

Thanks everyone, I'm glad to be here...

About my room I think I'm not alone in dreaming about a bigger room, more space for speakers and more air in general... for now this will have to do though, and the PMC speakers works amazingly good in tight spaces and close to walls due to their "ATL technology".

If you're in Sweden Rikard, you should check out Jorma cables from Sweden. They sound natural, harmonically rich, musical & just allow the music to flow. They are also not large, ungainly cables & are easy to route. Stillpoints get a big tick for iso feet. And if you're into high end power distributors, Accoustic Revive recently released an upgraded RTP model called Absolute which uses special custom versions of the Furutech NCF wpo's.

The sweetcords have a mini AC Curator circuit Inside that mates perfectly with the high bandwidth Job amps. $600 for the pair and Worth it. Needs a Euro adapter though...and they have a great resale market at that price.

Thanks for all suggestions, I appreciate it... Although I must say I'm deeply in love with my cables, decouplers and especially my power distributor... all from danish Ansuz. Together they just made my system fly, and I'm having difficulties to see how I could ever exchange them for anything else. But who knows...

It definitely seems price worthy and maybe I need to test it one day, thanks for the suggestion. And yes.... the Jobs has arrived... hehe...
