Re: Delivery Day
That's great. 9:00 on a Naim is still fairly loud. I'm glad your enjoying.

Re: Delivery Day
Jock, I was a little surprised how little turn of the knob ramped up the gain. I am definitely not saying the decibel creep is flawed or inconsistent..cause it certainly is not. I can hit the exact volume I want, both low and high.
For those also interested - the remote volume control is also very good. Smooth and consistent. A push of volume up/down does not go too far in that direction. Small, equal steps.
Jock, do you have any plans to hook up the 500 series gear to your D3?Sean

Re: Delivery Day
Hey Sean, are you using anything to secure you speakers to the stands? I use a product I bought on amazon called museum putty. It's like blu tak but better IMO. Highly recommend it for piece of my mind at the least and possibly better sound as well...

Re: Delivery Day
Oh, and BTW, I really think that break in roller coaster (good, bad, good, bad) is bunk. I do think the dyns start to sound smoother and fuller with time, but that's all I ever experienced.

Re: Delivery Day
Yes, but I haven't yet. Only because of extreme laziness. I have the Naim speaker cables a foot away and the remote is close by too. I have the NDS going into the Dag and the Naim at the same time. When I say extreme laziness I mean extreme laziness. I'll let you know. It only has a damping factor of 15, so strictly by the numbers, it shouldn't work very good at all.

Re: Delivery Day
Haha! No judging here. If you are content with your current setup, that's all that matters. Too bad the specs don't match up a little better. Tyler is running his SN2 with HiCap DR on D1's and is liking what he is getting....maybe there is something there....I can picture you grabbing the NACA5 now....haha!

Re: Delivery Day
The SN2 has been powered up for about 5 days straight now. I haven't been able to listen the past 3 nights but am looking forward to getting some time in this weekend. Will post more thoughts about the evolving sound of both the SN2 and 160's.

Re: Delivery Day
Sean. I think you have really super nice system and if you want get better sounds you have to spend three or four times amount$$$ to just get little better. So I really hope you to enjoy your system. To be honest with you sometimes I wish I was stop when I had my Naim and Totem system. It was more than good enough for what it's worth.... Sigh...

Re: Delivery Day
Paul, thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it. I am enjoying my new system very much. It's just so fun to plop down and listen.
If you start to get the itch for more Naim, their new XS2 has an added 10 watts (70 total) and is priced nicely at $2,900....nice secondary system.Sean

Re: Delivery Day
Curious if anyone has experience with 3rd party power cords on Naim pieces, particularly their pre and power amps? Traditionally, they (Naim) do not recommend them and many users have found they can degrade performance vs plugging stock cords into the wall. Trying to stay away from the Naim PowerLine.

Re: Delivery Day
Sean - you may want to try the Teddy Pardo PSU for your amp. It is much cheaper than the Naim one, and many people say thay are much better sounding (at least next to non-DR ones).
Power Supplies | TeddyPardo
I have two of those and couldn't be happier.
Adding the external PSU to the original Supernait was highly recommended by Martin Colloms in his HiFi Critic review. The Supernait scored 48 and 64 points respectively, without and with the extrnal PSU.Adam

Re: Delivery Day
I continue to be very very happy with my SN2 and Focus 160's. I will be adding a Shunyata Venom HC to the SN2 this weekend and hope for a great pairing. I have been wanting to try Shunyata for some time now. David (DAV) carries the line and was a great pleasure to do business with. Thank you David!

Thank you, Lavon.
Those white stands look like the Stand4s....I am not too sure they make those anymore (don't take my word for it), so you might have to find them second hand.Sean
