Hi All, I've got an issue i've been banging my head against a wall on, and need some help. Here is a general overview of my setup:PS4, Switch, Apple TV --> TV (All HDMI)TV --> Hegel Rost (SPDIF Out from TV)I recently got this Rost to replace an old Marantz receiver which worked fine in this setup, but on the Hegel I get no audio whatsoever. I've looked and the TV is outputting Raw, PCM made no difference. I've also tried changing these settings with each device to no avail. I know it's likely a format issue, with the Hegel not supporting surround formats. Is there a way to downsample a digital stream to 2 channels? If i need to get a small box to run the signal through first then so be it. Thanks!

Seems like there should be a setting for the digital stream out of the TV inside it's menu. I would have thought PCM to do the trick. Is there a PCM 2-channel? Or, maybe some way to turn off surround sound modes.

I've played with a couple Hegel integrated amps and owned one of their DAC's, there was never an issue I encountered getting them to play from digital. However, I never tried my TV.

Good luck.

Depending on the exact brand and model TV, as Mr Peabody suggested above there should be a menu setting to control the format of its digital output which would need to be PCM stereo (or 2-channel.)

As the above posts say, PCM is required. Raw is incorrect.

Also try different inputs in the Hegel.

Perhaps look for another Toslink source you might have to test the Rost digital input. Perhaps a dvd or BluRay player, CD player, or a different TV?

I currently use TosLink, just like you do, having found that switching HDMI at the TV to work best.

In the meantime, hook the analog stereo out from your TV to an analog input on your Hegel.
