Help & Advice on Cinema Amplifiers
Hello,
I have a set of Linn Solo's, 4 in total. I am upgrading my HIFI and considering adding a 5th Solo and migrating this system to my cinema room.
Therein I will use 4x standmounted Sonus Faber Sopra1's and a Focal centre, with a dedicated subwoofer for the bass.
Could I ask for the forum's opinion of the suitability of these electronics for driving this system?
David.

Re: Help & Advice on Cinema Amplifiers
David i run 3 mono class d amps across my 3 front channels (Bel Canto Ref 600M)- they are similar power to the Solo's i think. For the rears i use a stereo 150 w Bel Canto amp.
I run SF Cremona all round. Floorstanders at front, centre and for rears and augment with Marten Sub.
I think u will be absolutely fine with your proposal. Indeed u may not need all that power at the back - esp if u cut everything at 80Hz and send that to your sub.
I always argue that the centre channel and everything that hangs off it is the most important element in ur HT. 90% of all the info comes out of it as well as the dialogue which is the hardest thing to get right and sound real/natural.
Are u using a Linn processor or something new?

I upgraded the power supply on my Gigafoil v4 to a Weiss PSU 102. It’s very nice step up. But with the new model, you’re looking at $2000 before even investing in a SOTA linear power supply.
