    Hegel sound

The Hegel power amps have been out awhile now and I wonder how the H20 would compare to the H300/360/390? The H20 and H30 were out at the time of the h300 so are the int's built to a price justifying the regular updates while the separates enjoy the view from top of the hill? The H3xx is rated with more power than the H20 yet costs less in comparison what gives?

Power ratings often don't tell the true story. It has been quite a while since I've had a H20 around, but at one point I connected it to the preouts of the H360 and the improvement over the power section of the H360 was very substantial driving some ATC speakers. Sure, the H360 is the predecessor to the H390, but the power sections are very similar from what I remember. Also, if you look at the specs, the H20 power amp weighs 5 kg (11 lbs) more than the H390. That tells you something for sure.

I have the H360 and I'm considering bi amping horizontally my Blades would I put the 250/425wpc of the h360 to the bass and run the h20 on top? I would love an H30 but they never come up used.

In my opinion, I imagine you'd get better overall sound having the H20 power the Blades entirely as opposed to bi-amping as you're suggesting. The H20 has considerably better overall sound quality, including bass, than the H360. I also imagine you'd have a hard time finding a H20 these days except on the used market.

ugg. My dealer might have a demo I could get at fair used pricing, his kit is on 24/7 and it's probably 5-6 years old tho'.

The h30 sold as fast as they posted it. I will need to hear the h20 with my speakers to believe it can drive them better Than what I’m using.

If memory serves the H20 somewhere around $15k to $20k, I would hope it to drive the Blades better. Neal mentioned the weight difference, presuming larger power supply which is the heart of the amplifier.
