I believe that are two different things.

You do that by saying. " I will defer that question to the people that make those decisions".

Are you saying Dr Fauci has never been in that position in his professional life?

Well, you are wrong. You can’t say one thing and not address the other.

On the contrary, someone should be saying “I will defer that question to the people that are expert on infectious diseases”.

mep no one is sugar coating anything. I’m not aware of anyone who has said there haven't been any political posts. Even in my post you quoted below I used the phrase “many illustrations” meaning that all the posts weren’t following the rules. And I also quoted the rules. I also said I wasn’t surprised when people broke the rules. …

Moreover, on March 22, 2020, 08:06 AM in post #228 I attempted to bring things back into alignment with the rules. On March 22, 2020, 04:40 PM in post #237 Mike said not to discuss politics. Again, on March 30, 2020, 04:16 PM in post #337 Mike repeated his admonition. And on April 14 at 11:20 AM in post #439 I made another appeal for the same. (forgive me if I have a date or post number wrong)

So, no one is saying there haven’t been any political posts. Many of us – including you in various places – actually stated the exact opposite! And I can assure you that Mike and the other moderators are watching this thread closely – as we discussed it early on in March sometime …

This said, there are still some valuable and helpful insights on this thread. Is it perfect – not at all. But we can still learn and help one another. Also, we just need a place to unwind and talk about this stuff. It’s pretty scary for some of us with underlying health conditions. It helps to have an outlet.

Respectfully, mep – and I mean no ill will by this at all – if you have a problem with this thread than just don’t visit or post in it. But if you have something of value to add to the COVID-19 discussion I’m sure many – including myself – would enjoy reading it.

Respectfully, mep everything may have a political or religious implication. Even audio equipment can become political or religious in a discussion. So, as you know there are rules in place on AS to guard against such ("Discussions regarding Politics and Religion are not permitted. Offenders will jeopardize their membership."). Therefore, when I post I expect that most people have read and can obey the rules. I think when most people post they expect this.

And there are many illustrations in this very thread of Sharks following the rules. They discuss COVID-19 without getting political. So, it's possible! It can be done. And it's not that difficult for those of us who can control our appetites - which we all have.

Puma Cat had suggested this map earlier. It’s a good one showing stats on all the states. It’s good to know what’s going on in our general areas.

Interesting news out of Chicago - Gilead drug "Remdesivir" apparently showing effectiveness at treating the virus. Patients with severe symptoms recovering rapidly in Chicago hospital....

Not sure if this sticks - it's still early......but hoping for a game changer.

Good news conference tonight at the White House. There is at least a plan in print as to how states can re-open under the direction of the Governor.

This looks promising, not a vaccine, but it appears to be a fairly substantial treatment. 125 COVID patients, with 113 of those being severe. “The best news is that most of our patients have already been discharged, which is great. We’ve only had two patients perish.” But even two are too many to lose.

They are doing research world-wide ...
Gilead’s severe Covid-19 study includes 2,400 participants from 152 different clinical trial sites all over the world. Its moderate Covid-19 study includes 1,600 patients in 169 different centers, also all over the world.

    Thanks for posting this.

No widespread testing, still not enough PPEs, no viable treatment or vaccine. But hey, who cares, let’s re-open it, pockets are hurting. The truth of the matter is with covid-19’s ultra sonic infection rate and mortality rate in a no holds barred society, there will be little economy left to speak of.

While I agree this has disrupted society, and is certainly a big mess, we can’t stay sequestered forever. Already people are starting to revolt against the restrictions. How should we proceed?

First step, at least do something about widespread testing at the federal level. Help all 50 states to achieve getting a coronavirus test is as easy as getting a flu shot. Along with a plan for contact tracing.

Second, draw up a re-entry plan that is guided by science and public health, not politics and election. That means listen to the infectious diseases experts, not the billionaires, and let them get us out of this hole.

    Third, stop telling lies.

Yes, those are all good suggestions, but I think the country will collapse before they are implemented. We need to bite the bullet and implement your suggestions, and, while doing that, slowly get back to work.

More politics! People just can't resist getting shots in which I said before. One more example of why these threads don't belong on audio forums. There is only so long that you can force people to be unemployed and keep them unemployed before mass civil unrest occurs. We are quickly approaching that intersection.

Maybe, but I think not. There is nothing wrong with having an off-topic forum on an audio forum. We aren’t monolithic. Just stay civil.

US has spent more than $6 trillion on coronavirus. If the money gets to those really in need, do you think $6 trillion is enough?

And you cannot resist responding to these "shots"!! While the point you make has inherent merit, if we had a competent and trustworthy administration, the economy could be opened up in phases with acceptable risk. The fact remains that the man at the top and his cronies have been lying much of the time. This is not just my assessment -- there is plenty of independent proof.

Pure politics from you unless calling the President of the United States and his "cronies" liars is considered non-political on an audio forum. My point has far more than "inherent merit" as you just demonstrated with your blatant political statement.

OK -- I will end my participation in this thread by asserting that stating the facts (that the president has been lying repeatedly during this pandemic) is not being "political". This particular thread is not about audio.
But since there are some people whose sensibilities are being hurt, I will keep my opinions to myself.

Even if what you say is a "fact" as you proclaim it to be, it would still be considered a political fact. You're playing games. One thing you are right about is that "this particular thread is not just about audio." However, it's still not supposed to be a political thread in which you keep trying as hard as you can to get in your pot shots at politicians you despise. That's not supposed to be the purpose of this thread as Mike keeps reminding people.

Fucking believers. So disgusting that political beliefs are actually a religion for some and end up ruining so much for everyone.

Apparently, Visine makes people see things clearly. On the contrary, for those who obviously need them but don’t use......

Interesting how these threads go off topic. On the Polk Audio forum we had two long threads on COVID-19 closed because people went off topic, and started berating each other. I guess it is human nature.
