    Cable Discussion

I had sinus Surgery this week. After 2 hours under anesthesia, I could feel my self starting to wake up in the post-op.

I was slowly hearing voices in a not combative but intense discussion.

At the point I was almost awake I realized it was me having a heated one person discussion with my imagination about a power cable I had purchased in my imagination.

When my eyes opened and the confrontation had ended, the 2 nurses were staring at me.

I asked them if people often have funny discussions with them selves waking up. They both laughed and said "Yes they do."

I have no idea what the disagreement with myself was about but it was and still is funny.

It produced many things Dave, but, none of those have been in the mix yet. I can only hope.

Great story. If it were me, it might well have been a "conversation" about why, after ~100 years, we still have not been able to unify Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity.

When I had my second cataract surgery the doctor came out while I was recovering and said, "you were a real character in there". I didn't know what he was talking about and definitely afraid to ask, LOL

As a retired Anesthesiologist, I'd say you were having a classic episode of Postoperative Delirium. It's more common in the elderly (just sayin' ). Your subconscious, apparently, has some unresolved audiophile issues to work out!

When going under general anesthesia, hearing is the last thing to go, and the first sense to come back. When you see your surgeon for the post-op visit, you can ask if he was playing music in the O.R. during your procedure. Perhaps you were subconsciously unhappy with the fidelity, and trying to sort out the cause!

Are you suggesting some old guy might be cranky about an audio cable or anything else on earth on any given day.

The obvious next question... did the sinus surgery have any impact on your hearing acuity/listening enjoyment? If beneficial, that could be the ultimate audiophile "tweak" for us aging audiophile codgers!

    Wishing you a speedy recovery.

    Re: Cable Discussion

It is too early to be sure what the end result is going to be. Because of all of the fluids red and clear that are still draining the Eustachian Tubes are often clogged off and on.

It is hard to say for sure because, when they aren't it seems like I hear a lot more. That may be nothing more than a contrast of the two.

I am amazed at this point in healing how much better I am sleeping. I didn't really think of my breathing paths being so much more open.

The 3 procedures are hopefully going to eliminate chronic sinus infection and bronchitis I have been getting 4+ times a year for along time.
