That is a very nice looking piece of kit. Darn thing's giving me a 'woody'!

Any indication of the $$?

Ab-so-lu-te-ly love the looks - I am a walnut nut.

Hmmm...I am a 30.1 owner and seriously thinking about going for this anniversary edition SHL5+. Will it be a significant improvement, enough to justify the higher price? They seem to be gorgeous...

If you like the M series sounds I would recommend to stick with M series such as M40.1 or 2. The SHL5 sounds totally different. I wouldn't call is upgrade IMO.

Couldn’t decide what thread to post this in, so I decided on this one due to its in general title...

Let’s talk about the “Harbeth 40th Anniversary Silver Eucalyptus” veneer...

With interest in the 40.2 in this veneer...After image searching the above quote, most pics are of the 30.2...but I’ve noticed out of all the 40th Anniversary veneers, the Silver Eucalyptus is represented almost two distinct ways; one a flat grey of sorts and one a richer brownish color.

I’m real curious what the more ‘correct’ color is?

I’ve heard this color appears a few different ways because it’s a bit of a chameleon. It appears to change in its color depending on how the light hits it and how much light there is.

If you own or you’ve seen in person, and then check out the pics on google...do you have any insights which one is closest?
Any insight, thoughts or opinions?
Any owners of the 30.2 or 40.2 in this veneer able to take some action shots that you feel represent the color as well as possible?
Does it change that drastically with different lighting?

Hopfully someone can help shed some light on this (pun intended), ‘cuz it’s either this or Walnut. Can’t decide!!!

Thanks!
Jason

Jason, where do you live? I have the 40.2 40th anniversary in the store and you can come and check it out for yourself.

Mike,

Im in Indiana...where we just got a freak 9 to 11 inches of snow!

How would you discribe the Silver Eucalyptus in normal or natural lighting? Grayish, brownish or brownish-grey? Lol! I know it’s really hard to discribe such things.

From afar or normal distance, Brown. Up close, little streaks of gray.

Oh, thanks Mike!! Very helpful!

Could you do a similar shot of the front or 3/4 view and one from ‘normal distance’? if you get the chance?

Im so torn!

Felix, I agree with Paul. I view the Harbeth lineup as an extended family of sorts. The P3ESR is an only child, the C7ES3 and SHL5+ are brothers, and the M30 and M40 are brothers. I consider them all to be cousins, but they do have their own distinct sound within the familial, or 'house sound'.

Yes! Thank you so much for the help!

hmmmm..... decisions decisions...

Here are a few pictures of my 30.2 in in SE:

Thanks Dskip!

This is confirms my theory that the 30.2 has a little more of a brown veneer used than the 40.2 does; being a little more grey. I actually really like both looks.
