Seems Like a Bad Idea
I read a short news clip this morning and decided to look to see if it is real.
Sure enough it is.
A Chinese drug developer JOINN Laboratories purchased 1,400 acres of land in Levy County. This is just north of Crystal River.
There claimed intent is to import laboratory animals like monkeys and apes and quarantine them for a period of time and then sell them to the U.S market.
At this time the county is saying the property is not zoned and they can't quarantine animals there.
My question is how does this get this far along without the general public knowing?
Aside from how any of us might feel about animals kept for our own enjoyment this seems like a really bad idea.
Some of the articles are saying they are going to be breeding and testing.
Based on what we have been through in the last 2 years this doesn't seem like a good idea anywhere in our country let alone 112 miles north of Tampa.
The most recent press release is saying that JOINN would need county, state and federal authorization.Synology 1019D+ - SGC Sonictransporter I9 w Roon/HQ Player- UltraRendu- PBD Stream IF to Playback Designs MPS5 via fiber optic - ARC 40th Anniversary Pre - ARC 610 T's - Martin Logan CLX's - 4 Martin Logan Depth i Subs - Shunyata Hydra, DIY PCOCC interconnects, speaker cables and power cords with Furutech terminations. Re: Seems Like a Bad Idea
Who would buy the animals, I guess for lab use maybe. I agree, it just sounds strange. If it is for lab use I wonder where we currently get them from. Seems it would be more cost effective just to ship the animals where they are needed, why would they need 1400 acres of land. Relations between the countries isn't great. On the other hand China has been buying up land it the U.S. for a while now, farm land, businesses etc. Maybe they just plan to evict us one day.

China trying one day to evict us is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Re: Seems Like a Bad Idea
There are several theories as to where the virus actually came from. Just because it's there first place a virus was detected doesn't mean it originated there, and Wuhan is a major industrial hub. You do know where the Spanish flu actually came from right?

Re: Seems Like a Bad Idea
Yes, it did not come from Spain and was first detected amongst US soldiers at a base in Kansas after they returned from WWI in countries other than Spain.
That pandemic also occurred 103 years prior to COVID-19 and is a completely separate and distinct incident having nothing to do with the other.

Re: Seems Like a Bad Idea
Your comment perfectly demonstrates how ignorance and misinformation is so easily spread.
The pandemic originated in the USA. The American soldiers BROUGHT it to Europe during WWI and it spread. It was reported by the Spanish media because they were neutral in WW1 and did not have a media black out.
The 1918 Influenza of course is relevant as it’s the last significant global pandemic and there are lessons for us to not forget or repeat.

Re: Seems Like a Bad Idea
The medical information I have read CDC, Baylor Uni., Web MD and others all refer to the most recent Covid 19 as originating in the Wet Markets in Wuhan. It was first widely detected in the Fall of 2019.
My wife and I were in New Zealand, Australia and Tasmania in the summer of 2019 for 8 weeks. There are huge numbers of Chinese travelers also. About week 5, I got what I thought was a sinus infection and received antibiotics. When the antibiotics failed I was given more.
I have never been as sick as I was those last 7-8 days before be came home. When we arrived home I was given more antibiotics and Prendazone. Nothing really did much and I spent days in bed.
There is no way to know if I had Covid or not but I will always believe I did. I have asked and been told there is no conclusive way to test for antibodies to be sure.Synology 1019D+ - SGC Sonictransporter I9 w Roon/HQ Player- UltraRendu- PBD Stream IF to Playback Designs MPS5 via fiber optic - ARC 40th Anniversary Pre - ARC 610 T's - Martin Logan CLX's - 4 Martin Logan Depth i Subs - Shunyata Hydra, DIY PCOCC interconnects, speaker cables and power cords with Furutech terminations.
