Re: Received 2nd Covid shot today

I hope this thread doesn't derail too much and I also hope it gets 100+ pages long with testimonies about you guys getting the vaccine.

I am too young to get it now but I can't wait until my day come a few months from now.

This thread is the simplest and most effective way to show those who are afraid or uncertain about it, to just do it. The proof is in the pudding.

Getting my second dose of Pfizer vaccine tomorrow morning. First shot had a sore arm for about a week and was very sluggish for about 12 hours. Other than that no problems. My much younger brother nearly died with Covid last March so I'm thankful I was able to get the Vaccine!

Re: Received 2nd Covid shot today

Probably you alreadt heard of it, but in the last few days, here in Portugal, there has been a lot of talk about the effectiveness of a certain very cheap drug in fighting COVID-19.
    I refer to Ivermectin

    Ivermectina - Wikipedia

The truth is that the Portuguese Medicines Authority has already said that “there is no evidence to support the use of this medicine but that they will follow the studies that are already being done”.

Insuficiente evidencia para uso de ivermectina na COVID-19 - INFARMED, I.P.

What can I say more? In the television there are doctors who claim that results. They say the improvements are almost immediate

Many combo of drugs work within hrs or days , also immune build up , plenty evidence to support this all around you from those who brush this off like the common flu while some others not ..

Re: Received 2nd Covid shot today

Received my second injection of the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine Thursday, March 11. This coming Thursday will be two weeks out from the 2nd injection. I had a sore deltoid and lower back the evening of my first injection, but virtually no side effects from the second one.

Oh, and as someone who was a professional molecular biologist in biotech his entire professional career, and who spent part of that career 1) inventing and developing PCR (yeah, the tech used for COVID testing) and 2) working in molecular immunology for some years (with papers published as first author in the Proceedings of National Academy of the Sciences), let me assure anyone who has doubts: Vaccines work with respect to attenuating morbidity and mortality. They save lives and prevent the spread of disease.

The reason that polio and smallpox have effectively been eradicated has been due to vaccines.

And, none of them alter your DNA.

Had my second Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine today at my local Safeway pharmacy. My first shot was in my left arm. So, I had to balance the dose and got the second shot in my right arm.

Here in the Great White North they don't call you, you call them to make an appointment.
My turn (over 65) is next month. And I have zero clue which brand of vaccine I would be getting.
    ...Made in India?

    * This is my own guess (zero certitude): I don't know when this will be over, I think we'll be living differently for a long time to come. We're not out of the woods, not this year, not this Spring.
We know not much about the variants. And we'll see new waves; next one in April/ May (some zones are already few waves ahead of the average). ...Tokyo for instance.

Toronto just started its third wave. Vancouver just experienced the most cases since January.

Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, ... far from being over.
Miami? Nice beaches, Spring Break, ...we saw the videos.
I have zero illusion; I'm listening to Bob Dylan right now "Blood on the Tracks" (SACD).

All three vaccines, Pfizer, Moderna and J&J all provide, from a practical perspective, equal protection. While there may be some statistically discernable differences between them in the clinical trials data (due to separate clinical test cohorts), what is important is there is no practically significant difference. Just take whichever one you can get as soon as possible.

Actually, we know quite a bit about the variants from a molecular diagnostics perspective; we know the the amino acid changes that constitute the new various epitopes in the spike protein and what domain(s) they are in. If we didn't know this, we wouldn't be able to detect them in the first place. What don't know yet completely is how efficacious the current vaccines are with respect to the variants simply because we don't have a complete data set, yet. Of the three, the data is likely most accurate for the J&J, because it's clinical trials were conducted when the variants were extant to some extent in various populations. This will become clearer for all three vaccines over time as the molecular epidemologists gather more data. It's likely we'll require a "booster" at some time in later 2021 that will be "multivalent" for the new variants. This approach is exactly the one that is used when developing yearly influenza vaccines, so there is virtually nothing new in approach here.

Thank you for your reply Puma Cat.

Here in Canada we also have the AstraZeneca vaccine. I don't know about the J&J if we have.
    Pfizer and Moderna yes.

I will take what's available, even the AstraZeneca if I have to, even after the news.
I know it's not the batch from the UK, we have the one from India.

We are still learning as we go, and yes the vaccines will need to be fine-tuned for the newest and latest variants.

The goal is to slowdown this virus spreading and killing; so we do what we have to do...get vaccinated for immunity. And this is not a North American thing, or a French thing, or a German thing, or an Indian thing, or a Chinese thing, ...Russian, African, South American, UK, Australia, Bangkok, Tokyo, Japan, Finland, Norway, Ireland, Iceland, Tibet, Kathmandu, Morocco, Arabia, Ethiopia, Philippines, New Zealand, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Gibraltar, ... it's a global common thing, a worldwide responsibility. The Janssen vaccine from Johnson & Johnson has been approved in Canada at the beginning of march I believe and I even think that we (Canada) will be making some of it directly in Canada starting next summer. I am not sure we have receive any shipment yet though.

My mother has received her first dose last week and It was the Covishield (AztraZeneca) and she is completely fine and had no side effect other than some stress since there was quite a lot of bad press about it the day after she got it.

It was quite a relief for her (and me!) to finally get a vaccine after the crazy year we just had and the terrible amount of deaths amongst the older people.

If last Spring the medical community was told that any of the vaccines were going to be as good as they turned out to be, it would have been called aspirational or wishful thinking.

MY doctor at Mayo Jacksonville told me to get both of my shots in my dominate arm, glad I did, no issues at all, and its been 6 days since my 2nd shot. I mean I never even got a sore arm on the second. A lot I feel depends on the skill of the person giving you a shot, any shot. Some of these shot givers act like they are throwing a darn javelin, while others you just never feel it. And you need to move that arm in that 15 min wait period as it helps.

I tried Publix the first day it was opened, I had better luck playing the Fl Lottery as I won $500 that same week. Could never get in for weeks and weeks. But found a state Vac site, that worked great.

It works, when I got my shots at one of the State Vaccination sites in Jacksonville, they pretty much would embarrass you if you were not moving that arm during the 15 min. So I did both times and , the soreness was very very minimal. .Some of the macho guys in there just sat there during the first and when we all appeared the same day for the second a lot of us recognized each other and you guessed it they were moving their arms like ballerinas.

If you want the shot, then get the shot, but I'm just guessing that most of you did less research about the vaccines, then you did about your last audio purchase.

In Québec it works by regions. Laval is part of Montréal for vaccination I believe. Some days they had Pfizer, others AztraZeneca... We don't have a choice in the matter other than we can refuse it and wait for another time.

I don't know how it works in USA but in Québec we have a website and It is really easy to get a rendez-vous.

Even though Canada is fairly low in the worldwide list of vaccination, I am amazed how fast and smooth it is all going!

Re: Received 2nd Covid shot today

Funny story, one of my clients, a Doctor, got the vaccine back in December. He came in the store right after getting it. I said to him, “how are you feeling, any side effects?”

He looked at me stone cold faced and said:

“Yes. An uncontrollable urge for new speakers.”

    LOL

Krispy Kreme is sharing some sweetness as the U.S. continues to rollout vaccines.

Starting Monday, anyone who shows a COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card at participating locations will receive a free Original Glazed® doughnut, the chain announced.

To be eligible, guests must have received at least one or two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

Guests must also show their vaccination card — a vaccine sticker does not qualify.

Great news. If you experience any side effects, it will be about 10-12 hours after your injection.

True. I had my Pfizer shots in the morning, and late at night my arm got a bit sore at the injection site. It certainly wasn't severe, and barely noticeable. By now millions of people have been vaccinated, and side effects are virtually non-existent.

Re: Received 2nd Covid shot today

Hopefully the alternatives to mRNA vaccines which do have sound scientific methods by which they were developed and in record time to say the least but have NO real long term testing and are being administered to millions around the globe with reckless abandon, will work out. This is my own opinion of course and nothing else. It's not like we didn't have products that went through the long and thorough FDA approval and clinical trials only to cause harm years down the road. We just don't know these are 100% safe LONG TERM and anyone who claims otherwise is either a LIAR or an IDIOT. There are many things that the scientists are NOT sure about... We still can't even explain some of the COVID immediate and long term/lingering symptoms...

Hopefully and I pray, that the vaccines really are safe since ALL of my family/important people in my life have been vaccinated. I did not try to change anyone's mind, everyone should decide for themselves what risk level is acceptable and what the potential consequences may be of either getting sick with COVID or getting a vaccine reaction/ultra rare chance of serious vaccine complication/death or some unknown long term adverse effect. It is no different in my mind of each individual deciding what life habits he/she supports/follows. Healthy eating and exercising or eating unhealthy, drinking, smoking, etc...

It is ultimately every individuals choice and no one should be forced to do something they do not feel comfortable with.

Everyone in my family made their choices but since they all are in the medical field, as I was before, they all made their choices to be protected and protect others they come in contact with by getting the vaccine.

I myself am on the fence. I got sick with "something" in 2020 while staying at home and not even going anywhere while everything was under lockdowns anyway. The symptoms were not classic but rare COVID symptoms. I got over it but it messed me up in some ways for many months... I will never know what it was, I had a teleconference with my doctor and decided not to get tested due to the chances of testing false positive being extremely high... I will not get into this part. It has been well covered already... What would have been the point anyways? Fortunately it was not anything that required hospitalization.

Getting back to where we are today... I am awaiting my turn and vaccine phase to open up in my state but am not in a hurry as I am watching everything unfold. I had a chance to get the vaccine very early on being in the medical field but passed since I have a feeling I already was sick with it last year and I could not get a clear enough answer whether people who were sick really should get vaccinated or not! Why is that? Because the scientists don't know how long the antibodies last. Do they know with these vaccines? Nope... Will yearly shots/boosters be necessary? Probably!

The more rational approach IMHO and again, this is my opinion only, would have been to vaccinate those in the immediate risk groups and statistically leave the over 95% population who will either be asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms to go on building up herd immunity in the community, the way nature has always intended it and by which we have made it this far...

In the mean time, there has been some progress which is completely logical. Pills are being developed to be taken at the first sign of COVID, in case someone becomes symptomatic and recognizes that they are sick since many do not even know. Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

I pray for the sake of millions and millions of the brave "shoulder bearing warriors" in this early COVID war. Let's hope it all turns out well and as I already said, everyone in my family except me has been vaccinated so I genuinely do care and pray.

Re: Received 2nd Covid shot today

^^^ Serge, thank you for that good post, you have a better way with words than I do. Like you, everyone else in mine and my wife's family already got the injections. We have not and have zero plans to do so. We both stopped getting the regular Flu shots 15 years ago when my wife retired from being a Respiratory Therapist for 25 years. Although much of the fallout of the initial reactions and may deaths around the world are being suppressed in the media, I am more worried about the long term effects as well as getting everyone to bare their shoulder for every possible variant or anything "they" tell you you need a "Vaccine" for. The only reason this Experimental Injection is labeled a Vaccine is because you cannot sue for issues or death if it is labeled a Vaccine. How convenient.

Along with Lipid Nano Particles, if not already included, semi conductor nano particles are planned to eventually "Chip" us all as per interviews with Kill Gates. These semi conductor nano particles can then be activated/agitated by the new 5G and cause people to be or feel sick. I know many feel this is all conspiracy theory, but after seeing what Gates and the rest of the globalists are up to, I don't trust them for 2 seconds.

I do hope I am all wrong, but I am healthy and will take my chances fighting something with a 99.X recovery rate as opposed to blindly getting shot up with who knows what whenever They Say So. Hopefully in 2 years we can look back and have a laugh on my behalf and not what I fear may happen.
