I enjoyed the shoot-out Alpha did between the ultimate analog source and digital. They made a live direct-to-lacquer cut that was compared to the same performance recorded in hires digital. I'll save you from the suspense, in subjective tests It laid bare how much further digital has yet to go to compare to analog for life-like sound reproduction.

Their tests are great. The ones where they test switches makes you wonder how ANYONE can claim there is no sound difference between switches when its right there for you to hear yourself.
