    Re: Economy and Finance Thread

The report just came out this morning ...
▪︎AR6 Climate Change 2021: The Physical Science Basis — IPCC

3,000-plus-page report from 234 scientists. It will affect the economy more moving forward.
..Not the "Code Red: Humanity" report, but the reality of climate change, as what we see more and more now, in the last 10 years plus, ...the economy is going to get "hot" too ... figure of speech.

    * Next year they'll come up with another report: Solutions for each country of the globe on how to improve the climate, and the economy consequently.

Nicely done. Without wasting a moment, the 3.5 Trillion dollar climate plan is already being outlined by those in power. There will be lots of cronies getting wealthy. The average Joe will just have to pay up as usual.

I should have verified the source when I said earlier that 97% of climate scientists believed in global warming and that man was at least partially responsible. I got fooled by some dumb @$$es from an agency on the internet. You know, the agency that sent a spacecraft millions of miles away, landed it on a smaller and faster spinning planet than Earth and landed it within 4 feet of the intended target. Those guys are pretty dumb.

And since China is tops on all the rare minerals and battery manufacturing, having us go green while they stay with fossil fuels means they control our economy and anyone else buying into this.

    Re: Economy and Finance Thread

China is definitely loving all of this. Please choke off your industries, lower the manufacturing output, or better yet, send ALL manufacturing to us in China, as you have done over the decades. We will build out cities (more than 50 in fact) to put our large 1.3 Billion population of hard working people to work, keep growing our economy and then take over the world before this century runs out.... Your people in the US can keep sitting on the couches and collect the stimmies...

HONG KONG: China will create millionaires at a quicker pace than the United States in the five years through 2025, as a rapid recovery from the world's worst public-health crisis in a century helps corporate chieftains generate and accumulate wealth faster, according to the 12th Global Wealth Report by Credit Suisse.

The number of US dollar millionaires in China will increase by 92.7% to 10.17 million by 2025, compared with a 27.8% rise in the US to 28.06 million US dollar millionaires over the same period, according to a projection by the Swiss lender.

"The rise of China's wealth between 2000 and 2020 is almost equal to the 80 years of growth of wealth in the US from 1925 until 2005," Anthony Shorrocks, an economist and the report's author, said in a video conference on Tuesday. "We are expecting very solid growth in wealth in the years ahead, in both China and India."

China will create millionaires over 3 times faster than US in 5 years

    As far as pollution....

Each year more than 36,000 million tons of CO2 are released into the Earth’s atmosphere, it is the main source of the Greenhouse Gases that contribute to Climate Change. The most part of these gases comes from the use of fossil fuels, the generation of energy through non-renewable channels and polluting human activities.

The last report of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) pointed out that during the last year recorded (2018), the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere broke all records in the history of humanity. Specifically, the concentration reached 407.8 parts per million (ppm) in 2018, which represents almost a 47% higher level than the pre-industrial period, before 1750.

    Top 10 polluters

However, the most part of this pollution comes from just a few countries: China, for example, generates around 30% of all global emissions, while the United States is responsible for almost 14%.In the ranking below you can find the 10 countries that produce the most emissions, measured in Millions of tons of CO2 in 2019.

China, with more than 10,065 million tons of CO2 released.
United States, with 5,416 million tons of CO2
India, with 2,654 million tons of CO2
Russia, with 1,711 million tons of CO2
Japan, 1,162 million tons of CO2
Germany, 759 million tons of CO2
Iran, 720 million tons of CO2
South Korea, 659 million tons of CO2
Saudi Arabia, 621 million tons of CO2
Indonesia, 615 million tons of CO2

We all know about China; they have the most billionaires on the planet, they are the biggest polluter, their economy is strong, they are the most untrustworthy, they rule the earth's economy in the most despicable ways.

What are we going to do about it?

Hopefully not buy an EV since it would play right into your point.

The rest of your question cannot be answered here because it is purely a political problem.

Brian, how smart one has to be? EV we can buy made in Canada, made in Mexico, made in Japan, made in Germany, made in USA.

We can outsmart China by building a stronger healthier economy. Screw China and their auto-destruction. Screw them with their power trip and crimes against Earth and its humanity.

First of all we will need to get rid of the current admin and most tree huggers that are stopping us from mining what is needed for manufacturing batteries. Assembled In is not the same as Made In. Just because you assemble parts from China in Canada does not make it Made in Canada.

We also have to get rid of the Private Western Central Bank and the Fiat system and the globalists.

Where would you like to start?

You need to go back far enough to eliminate the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Gates, Shiffs, and all the other families that are controlling the world financial systems.

This is worth watching and pondering for a moment. Philosophically speaking, it is our success as a species that is the root of all problems. In our never ending quest to find meaning in life, we focus on all the things (mostly materialistic) that add very little to the meaning but require great sacrifices to our planet. When we lived as hunters and gatherers, we did not pose any threat to this planet.

German emissions from electricity generation increased in the first half of 2021 by one-quarter, or 21 million tons, according to German think tank Agora Energiewende. Gas-fired power plants increased 15%, coal power plants by 36%, and hard coal power plants by 44%.

Experts say it’s because Germany’s economy is growing more in its post-Covid recovery. "Overall, the recovery in demand is by far the main factor behind the increase in fossil fuel generation," said a German energy analyst.

But the increase was also due to the lack of wind. Wind produced just 46.8 terawatt hours in the first six months of 2021 which is over one-quarter less than the 59.4 TWh they produced in the first half of 2020. Offshore wind generation, too, dropped by 16%, to 11.7 TWh during the period.

It’s true that there was a slight increase in solar power generation, wind was abnormally high in 2020, and things could improve next year. In contrast to 2020, there were no above-average wind and sun conditions in 2021.

But increased electricity from solar was from more solar panels, not more sunlight, and Germany couldn’t install enough of them to make up for the loss of electricity from wind turbines. It’s notable that sunlight was down in the first half of 2021 even as solar panel installation was up. And the German parliament’s researchers recently concluded that Chinese solar panels were being made under conditions of genocide, which make sanctions, and fewer imports of China-made solar panels, inevitable.

Meanwhile, Germany is closing nuclear plants this year and next, which will result in more use of coal and natural gas, and thus increase carbon emissions.

Curious if anyone in the Big White House ever thinks about "accountability" at all? This is a finance thread, so I am curious if anyone thought today, as the Afghan president flees the country, well, we spent 20 years and over $2T trillion dollars and for what? Another war lost and money wasted.... At some point we need better accountants and accountability of our tax money.

Of course the Taliban is well trained. The Taliban now has all the well trained by US dollars and experts ex-Afghanistan soldiers joining them or else they and their families will be executed. That's how it works over there and that's why one doesn't go there to make enemies and expect to win with minimal casualties to the innocent population. It just can't be done. How many have tried and failed over the centuries??? Gotts to know history and who you are dealing with when picking a fight....

Not a war strategist or a military analyst but common sense tells me that China being buddies with a willing group of terror is a bit of a concern.... Imagine virtually unlimited resources backing a very willing group to do all kinds of things anywhere they can get to... China is growing bolder by the day and this relationship will be yet another tool at its disposal.... Taiwan is next on the list of conflicts me thinks!

$88.2 billion price tag for rebuilding Iraq after Islamic State war

The U.S. alone spent $60 billion over nine years — some $15 million a day — to rebuild Iraq. Around $25 billion went to Iraq’s military, which disintegrated during the lightning 2014 offensive of the Islamic State group, which grew out of al-Qaida in Iraq. U.S. government auditors also found massive waste and corruption, fueling suspicions of Western politicians who want to scale back foreign aid.

Just saying... That tax money that comes out of our paychecks sure is going to good use.

I like history. I respect leaders that were decisive and heroic at times when people needed them most.

When 340,000 English soldiers were trapped at Dunkirk, Churchill sent fishing boats across the Channel to get them home. Under direct attacks of the German Luftwaffe

When 49,000 Jews needed rescuing from Yemen, a newborn Jewish State rescued them from an enemy country. Operation Magic Carpet.

When 15,000 Americans are trapped in Afghanistan, Secretary of Defense of the most powerful country on earth Lloyd Austin says, "We don't have the capability to go out and collect large numbers of people." That is just beyond sad....
