Audiophiles
Things Audiophiles do when they love a grand niece or nephew more than their listening room. Quietest room to sleep.
It folds up and will live in the back of the room or a closet. Some afternoon listening I may be tempted to curl up and take a nap also.Synology 1019D+ - SGC Sonictransporter I9 w Roon/HQ Player- UltraRendu- PBD Stream IF to Playback Designs MPS5 via fiber optic - ARC 40th Anniversary Pre - ARC 610 T's - Martin Logan CLX's - 4 Martin Logan Depth i Subs - Shunyata Hydra, DIY PCOCC interconnects, speaker cables and power cords with Furutech terminations. Re: Audiophiles
Hah, once they're 2 yrs old, and poking and prodding everything, you'll need to padlock that room!
Our 20 month old grandson was here for the holiday weekend. To play it safe, I moved my ML Expressions from the family/listening room to a locked room. However, I left the ML Motif center on the console cabinet. Within 15 mins of his arrival, he poked his finger into the soft dome tweeter before anybody could grab him! I think toddlers have an innate urge to find and destroy speakers!
I *think* the tweeter is OK, but haven't been able to really test it yet. I'm now debating whether I could be charged with child abuse if I hook a 9 V battery to the ML stat panel to give a "warning shock" if touched!Squeezebox Touch/Bel Canto DAC 3.5VB + Oppo 205 > Conrad Johnson CT5 preamp and Premier 350 amp > Martin Logan Expression 13A's and two ML BF210 subs. Brad, you should, at least, have put the crib in the "sweet spot" and played Brahms Lullaby!

Alan, my advantage is, they don't go in the listening room without close supervision.

Re: Audiophiles
Wow, this is the first time I've ever seen something like this. What are those things along the wall?

Re: Audiophiles
I know Michal, they are weird looking things. Some times people come in the room and stare at them. They either shake their head, roll their eyes, point and laugh or say maybe they can work.
They are a DIY diffuser that, an EE friend made for his living room. He brought over a pair for me to try. He didn't tell me he was bringing them as I might have said "Yea, I don't think so".
In reality they are plastic disposable martini glasses. The bottoms discarded and they are glued to pieces of 1/4" foam core board and painted.
I realize they aren't for everyone and possibly no one but they made a change in the sound I would have never guessed.
When I built my listening room I wanted to start with total absorption then go from there. Many visitors shook their heads with the silence in the room but I didn't mind.
When we started placing and moving the first two 50 Shades of Gray* panels around it was very obvious how you could change the sound.
*50 Shades is a movie reference comment by one of my wife lady friends made upon seeing them the first time.
Anyway, I have slowly added more as time goes by. I think I am about there but, not totally sure.
There is clearly not much of a WAF there to put them in your living room though.Synology 1019D+ - SGC Sonictransporter I9 w Roon/HQ Player- UltraRendu- PBD Stream IF to Playback Designs MPS5 via fiber optic - ARC 40th Anniversary Pre - ARC 610 T's - Martin Logan CLX's - 4 Martin Logan Depth i Subs - Shunyata Hydra, DIY PCOCC interconnects, speaker cables and power cords with Furutech terminations.
