If you’re on the fence about a new audio product, may I suggest not waiting much longer. It seems every day my in box is filled with new price lists or notifications of prices going up 10-20%. On Friday, Focal/NAIM announced that effective January 1, all prices will be going up at least 10% across the board, across all products.

We are seeing this over and over again. Material costs, shipping costs, demand, etc. are all driving this.

So, if you’re eyeing something, I strongly advise not to wait. Get the order in soon!

Mike, I checked 'thanked' for your post, doesn't mean I like it but thanks for the heads up !

Mike,

Thanks for the heads up although the more prices continue to rise in this hobby the more my current system is beginning to look like my retirement system. A couple of years ago I could envision upgrading all of my components one more time … after several years of steady price increases with more on the way … I may just have to learn to live with what I have and replace rather than upgrade over time. That next step is just beginning to look too tall …

Thanks again for everything you do!

George

I’m with you George! The only component I would consider for replacement at this point is my VPI Avenger table. It would take a significant investment to upgrade my MBL speakers and amplification.

I’m not trying to tell anyone to buy anything, just want you guys to know what I’m seeing from my end.

Even though I am personally not affected at this point in time, I still appreciate Mike giving us a heads up!

That’s all I wanted to say. I know we all get busy with Turkey day and other things, so just a heads up so you’re not caught singing the blues that that shiny new toy just went up in price!

Mike,

Two Magico questions: (1) can you confirm Jay’s comment about a revised S series coming soon — and I’ll add likely with higher prices; and (2) should we expect an across the board price increase from Magico?

Wouldn't a company like Magico want to make their product line announcements prior to empowering their Authorized Dealers to announce? Rumors generally are not the capital of Authorized Dealers and imho it's poor form to ask them to risk their relationship with their brand(s).

@ Bart001: That‘s business today - poor.

Agree it's all too common. Authorized Dealers who are in this business a long time respect their brands. And for some reason those are always in my experience the best dealers to work with as a customer. Because they respect us, too!

I have no idea whether Magico is coming out with a new S series or not. Nobody really knows, and anything is pure speculation. What I can tell you is that the S5 mk2 is selling like hot cakes. I think it’s truly seen as the “next big step up” from the A5.

Magico never gives any advanced warning to dealers about new models, price increases, etc. They keep everything very close to the vest. At this time, they are focused on filling all the back orders and focusing on timely supply to meet the demand.

As dealers, we are fortunate enough to learn about new products and such from other manufacturers, sometimes years in advance, but we don’t get too worked up until we see the product launch as we’ve seen many things change.

Is there a Black Friday sale on some high-end audio jewelry gear Mike? ...Focal, Magico, ...all the usual suspects?

Heck no, we can’t get product, so no deals. Just hurry up and buy if you’re in the market before price increases.
