We need a new sofa for the living room.

    Oh, wait, you mean audio?

I’m toying with new speaker cables for home. The Shunyata Omega’s in the store kind of messed me up. I want them for home too.

Were those the ones in your unboxing video that looked like they were massive fire hoses? Those looked super impressive.

Yes! We had someone come over last week with his “giant killer” speaker cables. He left with his tail between his legs.

Still wanting to try an external DAC. A local dealer is supposed to let me try a N05xd in the near future. So that could go great and end up in a purchase, it could be not much difference and end my curiosity, or it may be an improvement but not to my taste and the search will continue.

Yes - NAD M66 when released. I'd be even more interested in this if I used vinyl as it seems to cater very well for analogue users.

Why are there still so few preamps, integrateds, all-in-ones, or streamer / DAC / preamps that offer digital only? Why do digital users have to pay extra for phono stages, etc that so few of us still use? Mark Levinson's 5802 is one of the very few I'm aware of. Any digital-only streamer / DAC / preamps I should be looking at as alternative to M66 that doesn't need Roon to make using it intuitive and simple?

Some things I go with my gut. When I heard the Magico A3 on Youtube just at their release. My gut told me they were my next speaker. My gut says I'll love the S3. My bank roll....not so much!

    Re: What's your next purchase?

Last recent purchase was a rack mounted, Equitech 2RQ, a 72 lb., 2kVA, bifilar-wound, isolation transformer for the front-end of my system. I didn't think I had any noise problems, but boy was this a sonic revelation. Balanced power is electrically different than any power conditioning system. I never liked any of those that I tried.

Just bought a Luxman D10X today from our favorite guys at Suncoast Audio. After 25 years of working on my current system, I'm done until my Lyra Etna wears out.

Might be looking for some network switches to compare to my existing switch my friend modified and made a DC blocking power supply to use with it.

I am guessing, I might not need to look any farther than Mr Mike just south of me.

    Re: What's your next purchase?

    Just completed my next purchase!

A beautiful carbon-fibre Ibis Silk road racing bike with full Shimano Ultegra 6700 gruppo.

Founded by Scot Nichol, Ibis is a small bicycle company based in Marin County that is very well-known and very, very highly respected by the entire bicycle industry. A good way to think of them is like a Bugatti or Pagani.

Took it for a ride right after picking it up and, oh my! The full carbon fiber frame and Easton CF front fork means rides and handles beautifully, and as it only weighs...16 lbs (!), it accelerates like an F1 car when you stand on the crankset. At 55cm, it also fits me really well.

    The full specs:
Frame: Ibis Silk SL Carbon Fiber
Fork: Easton EC90 SL Carbon Fiber
    Wheels: Shimano Ultegra
Cranks: Shimano Ultegra 6700 Compact (50/34)
    Brakes: Shimano Ultegra 6700
    Shifters: Shimano Ultegra 6700
    Cassette: Shimano Ultegra 6700 (11-28t)
    Front Derailleurs: Shimano Ultegra 6700
    Rear Derailleur: Shimano Tiagra
    Headset: Cane Creek IS3i
Handlebar: Ibis 7075-T6 DB 44cm width
Stem: Ritchey WCS 120cm (I also have other stem lengths available if desired)
    Saddle: San Marco Zoncolan-Titanox Rails
    Seatpost: Ibis 3D forged 7075 31.6 x 250mm
Tires: Continental 5000 TL (set up tubeless)

Can't wait for tomorrow to get here so I can...ride it again! 😻

I am at a point where I'm very satisfied with both my systems. Maybe new electronics for the Lake House. The C 2300 and MC 275V are hardly state of the art. But then neither is the TT or speakers...

Have you explored Bel Canto? Also meets your Class D desire. Devialet may be an option.

I like what I've heard from Devialet and I think the amps look cool, love the remote. The Bel Canto E1X system sounds great, IMO

Yes, it accelerates really nicely. The nicest thing is it fits me really well, so my riding efficiency is good on it. I just ride for fitness and fun, so it's all good.

Very nice Bike , it does seem to have a pretty high rake angle on the extension l, placing you very upright unless in the drops so must be very comfortable.

While i do currently run with full carbon aero wheels im not a fan over my heavier campi aero rims . The lighter carbon wheels accelerate easier but also requires more effort to maintain speed than the slightly heavier alloy wheels..

Better for climbing not for flat road pacing IMO ..!

Thanks Mr P. I've just ordered a pair of Atma-Sphere Class D mono amps, despite never having heard (or even seen) them - a bit rash - but I'm optimistic based on tittle-tattle I've read here and on other forums!

It's what feeds these amps I'll next be looking for. The NAD M66 is currently top of my list of streamer / DAC / preamps, although others are being considered. Bel Canto offer such boxes, but their absence of front panel LED screen is a miserable disappointment (and no opportunity to display album art onto a TV screen) and I wonder if its control app is a patch on the BluOS one.

These are shared "problems" with most other top end streamers - maybe I'm too determined to retain an ability to see album art and to have my hands on a first-class app loaded onto Windows, iPad and Android. I have Auralic, HiFi Rose, Lumin, Moon and others but none seems to offer album art and a good control app (unless one resorts to Roon with its extra hardware and subscription), but I'm happy to be steered towards these or other brands if most boxes can be ticked.

    Thanks. Peter

    Re: What's your next purchase?

I heard those amps briefly, with the Atmosphere tube pre, I can't remember the speakers. My impression was good although I can't remember a lot about it, I think mostly due to a song I wasn't enjoying.

I have 2 friends who use Auralic, one is a big Roon fan but thinks the Lightning app is alright, the other uses and likes the Lightning. I think apps have a learning curve and take some getting used to. I'm not familiar with Hi Fi Rose but they were one of the first to have HDMI out so I'd be surprised if they didn't show album art. Hopefully they 66 will work for you.

Not going to buying soon. But I'd love to trade in my Raidho X3 for some Blumenhofer or maybe WOLF VON LANGA speakers. Something more efficient compared to my current speakers.

Founded by Scot Nichol, Ibis is a small bicycle company based in Marin County that is very well-known and very, very highly respected by the entire bicycle industry. A good way to think of them is like a Bugatti or Pagani.

Took it for a ride right after picking it up and, oh my! The full carbon fiber frame and Easton CF front fork means rides and handles beautifully, and as it only weighs...16 lbs (!), it accelerates like an F1 car when you stand on the crankset. At 55cm, it also fits me really well.

    The full specs:
Frame: Ibis Silk SL Carbon Fiber
Fork: Easton EC90 SL Carbon Fiber
    Wheels: Shimano Ultegra
Cranks: Shimano Ultegra 6700 Compact (50/34)
    Brakes: Shimano Ultegra 6700
    Shifters: Shimano Ultegra 6700
    Cassette: Shimano Ultegra 6700 (11-28t)
    Front Derailleurs: Shimano Ultegra 6700
    Rear Derailleur: Shimano Tiagra
    Headset: Cane Creek IS3i
Handlebar: Ibis 7075-T6 DB 44cm width
Stem: Ritchey WCS 120cm (I also have other stem lengths available if desired)
    Saddle: San Marco Zoncolan-Titanox Rails
    Seatpost: Ibis 3D forged 7075 31.6 x 250mm
Tires: Continental 5000 TL (set up tubeless)

Can't wait for tomorrow to get here so I can...ride it again! 😻
Makes me want to get out my old Trek Mountain Track 820 "Hybrid" that I bought new and lightly modded about 28 years ago. Made out of chromoly, it's a light weight (or was back in the day) mountain bike that I converted to more of a road bike. Changed out the cassette that's suited more for the road, swapped to a Girvin Flex Stem, handlebar side extensions, narrow "split" saddle, and Continental near slick road tires. It currently has Kenda Kwest K193 rubber, about 7 years old now.

And just realized that Trek still makes this very model, except now with suspension front forks.

Once upon a time long, long ago I had a Dual 1229 and a Shure V15 type 2 cartridge. I also had a cartridge for Quadraphonic--that was a short side road that dead ended. I also had a Marantz 4430 Quad receiver. It had a Vari-Matrix feature for "converting" stereo to Quad. I actually liked that feature and kept it for some time till I gifted to godson.

Waiting for this to be built and installed. My door is the same color as the one in the picture. My stucco trim is a very close match brown color. The "screen" portion is actually a solid sheet with laser holes. I am not concerned about the security aspect as much as the lower visibility into my home compared with a mesh-type screen when the main door is open. My entrance door is 8' tall and 52' directly opposite my patio door. We frequently get a cool evening (Delta) breeze and that is the main reason I spent >$3400 for the door. A few years ago the same door would have been <$2000 installed. Installer kept blaming the supplier. That does not pass my smell test.
