What is the proper term for?
What is the proper term for a thing that fills in excess space around a smaller A/V component inside an entertainment rack cubby hole to improve neatness in appearance? One might have a receiver that is 17" wide but a DVD player only 11" wide which might look odd on the shelf just below it. I am going to fabricate these things out of birch plywood and spray paint it flat black to make my narrow Panasonic Blue-Ray player look nicer on my entertainment rack with a receiver that is 17" wide on the shelf above it. I will also make one of uniform width to fit around my LED clock on the shelf which is even smaller.

Bezel would be one word, but only for the front, not filling in the space

Re: What is the proper term for?
Are these bezels sold commercially? I don't understand why they can't have a digital clock readout on a stereo/AV receiver front panel so one can see what time it is. I might just do front bezels after all to save money, materials, time and work.

Re: What is the proper term for?
I made some from some black craft foam board. This has thick paper on both sides of a foam core.
I used it to block visualization of the power strip, a many cords and wall warts, not much heat in this bottom enclosed shelf, but I left some open space on each side. The entire built in shelving and back mounted TV area are all black, so blocking with a black surface makes this shelf all but invisible.Amplification : Modwright LS300 - Atma-Sphere "Class D" monoblocks
