Too young...RIP...Saw him last year as well with Donald F. Good to have seen them live after all these years.

Saw them two years ago in Boston. B-day gift from the wifey. Great to see them live. They featured All the songs from Aja plus other big hits. One of my faves too. Legendary studio band and amazing compositionists, especially Walter Becker.

RIP

Saw them a few years back at a wonderful outdoor amphitheater in Nashville. Great stuff. They jammed on 'Green Earrings'!

One of those bands I really never get tired of listening to.

RIP Walter Becker.

RIP.
(In the picture, DF is wearing a jacket that is a few sizes too big. He must have borrowed it from somebody!)

I have been a fan of Steely Dan since Reeling in The Years. Saw them in concert a couple of times. Just saw Donald Fagan a couple of weeks ago. What a loss. I am greatly saddened.
RIP Mr. Becker. You will be missed.

This is very very sad news for me. Steely Dan has been one of my favorite bands as long as I can remember. I always would play a Dan record to check out new gear. RIP sir, you have brought me, and countless others, great joy. :( very very sad news...

Gone to soon ... RIP Walter Becker.

I've been listening to a bunch of Steely Dan recently after talking about them with a friend a few months ago. Have always enjoyed their music and some of their tunes are going to stay with me forever.

We're losing too many good guys too fast. We should appreciate them more while we have them with us.

Well the beauty of playing back recorded music on a good play ack system is that it can transport you back to the event or studio recording...our systems are veritable time machines, and in that way these artists are only as far away as the CD or LP racks or the streaming digital device [emoji106]

Best we can do is keep their music alive by listening to it and enjoying it ourselves and sharing it with those around us, especially the younger generations who have grown up on bubble gum music that is formulaic and mass produced blaaah.

One thing you can't say about Steely Dan is that their music was simple and formulaic. It weaved in complex melodies and harmonies and fused jazz, rock, blues and pop into its own thing. Plus these guys were perfectionists in the studio. Just ask all the studio musicians who played on their albums how many takes and experiments these guys did to record a single song.

Bad sneakers and a Pina Colada my friend
Stompin' on the avenue
By Radio City with a
Transistor and a large sum of money to spend

What other band comes up with lyrics like this? I love the Dan! Tragic news. RIP.

Saw them outdoors at Jones Beach theater years ago on Long Island. Love them to this day.
Only 67, yikes my age. Many who we grew up with are leaving us all too soon. But their music will keep the/their memories alive forever. RIP
