Doug Schroeder of Dagogo owned the Joule White which used Ceramic drivers vs the paper drivers in the Black so you might want to reach out to him via the website or Audiogon.

Interesting about the ceramic or paper drivers. I expect the Blacks with the paper would give up some sonic benefits for higher sensitivity. I ask here b4 bothering a shop owner whom I have no intention of buying from as this is an offer received in exchange for my persona 7f pair. Thanks for the reply.

    Steve

You're likely to find current or former Vapor owners on Audio Circle as that is where Ryan operated from and most of his customers were members. I'm pretty sure Doug will tell you all you want to know and as a reviewer for decades probably has a lot of info on comparable speakers he has had in for review before and since.

I have heard these speakers several times and found them very musical.
Good bass, smooth with great boogie factor. Non fatiguing.
    Sweet treble.
Can you audition them before the trade?
That's the only way to tell if they are for you.

They’re big, really big and the fact is even if I love them at the current owners home once they’re in my listening room all bets are off. Vapor audio isn’t a speaker brand ive heard before so just getting some feedback here helps.

    Re: vapor audio joule blacks

A local Suncoast Audio Society member had a pair of the "White" versions (same tweet and woofer, ceramic mid) in a truly dedicated listening room - literally separate structure from house.
The club heard at a meet in 2017, so others here might chip in. From distant memory, sounded pretty smooth, balanced to me, taken with grain of salt as a speaker manufacturer of course, not self immunized against bias like audiophiles. As you note, really no way to tell except in your room, with your preferences, whatever that might be given the normal audiophile merry go round thing going on.

    cheers,

    AJ

    Re: vapor audio joule blacks

Personally I would not consider for one second products from a defunct manufacturer. I do not think anyone took over the business from Ryan but I could be wrong. Sorry to be negative but I have been burned too many times by small manufacturers with big dreams.

Good luck whichever way you go.

The website looked good, didn't get the impression they were gone. I do agree with you that once replacement parts are no longer available a products value decreases significantly to me.

    Re: vapor audio joule blacks

    Steve,

I used to follow the threads on Audio Circle but lost interest. I thought someone was taking over for Ryan but I do not know how well or how long that worked. Notice all the website news is old.

My feelings are that few products stand out so much they can't be replaced with something else. I like products that hold value so I can sell them later if I choose. Products that are still in production or at least from companies still in business hold value better. The longer a product is out of production the less value it has. The longer a company is out of business the less relevance it has because nature abhors a vacuum and rapidly fills it.

I thought they had gone out of business from the discussions months back at AudioCircles? They no longer have a manufactures forum there. Everything I read about their speakers was very positive.

    Re: vapor audio joule blacks

I have the persona 7f listed in a couple places and I got a trade offer on the joule black speakers locally. I also have the dsp8000se that probably have a very similar sound to the joules so I'm going to pass on the trade. If they weren't over 200 lbs I would probably offer a short term swap for the fun of it

After Ryan the owner lost his wife, everything stopped. I had a pair of customer Breeze monitors made long before they slowed production.

I am sorry to read it was due to his wife passing. I just remember him missing, and questions wondering what was going on with the company.
