I have no experience with MQA. I up sample all my digital playback to DSD 128 and think it better than at 16/44. A standard CD has a rate of around 1400 kps while native DSD is around 5000.
Main System: Analog - Linn LP12, Origin Live DC motor and Controller, SME V arm, Benz Ruby H 2 cartridge, Wright Sound preamp. Digital - Intel NUC I-7, 16 gig ram, Jriver media center 24, Wyrd4 Sound 2V2 SE Dac, Fathom Hard Drives.
H-Cat Version 9 preamp, ARC Reference 75 amp, Custom line source speakers - 10 SB Acoustics midwoofers, 10 Fountek ribbon tweeters. JL Audio Fathom f112 Subs
Wire - T G Audio, Shunyata, Synergistic Research , Audioquest, Lewis silver foil, Duelund, Transparent.

Re: There is no such thing as a high resolution file

High resolution sounds better, especially DSD. I read the article. It just wreaks of another MQA propaganda article to me.

A friend of mine is extremely technical and he has a background in the high tech industry. He was also one of the first artist to embrace recording in DSD for his music. He is also one of the first advocates of distributing his music in MQA. Not because MQA is better because he has told me in his view DSD is very analog sounding, more so then other digital formats. However MQA is very good for transporting music, via portables and streaming.

I have all of his music in DSD and in his new re-formulated DSD512. I also have a few of his albums in MQA files that he sent to me. I have directly compared the DSD to the fully unfolded MQA on my portable using both ESS's and AKM's new flagship chips. The DSD is very noticeably better. I actually thought it would be closer but it is not. And yes, the MQA files are definitely better than standard 16/44.1 CD files (I have those also).
