Interesting list , wonder how long before the SS category is divided between class D and class a/ab ..?

It is somewhat amazing that the PS Audio Directstream DAC is still listed as A+. I own this DAC and have been very happy with it. Had one a few years ago and sold it and went on a search for a better DAC. Came back to the Direcstream DAC and am still very happy with it, and a big plus is it is made in the USA!

Does this list ever change much from year to year? For example, the JC mono's were on it for a long time and now the JC+, Larry Greenhill seems to keep Levinson on the list, etc. We know to take it FWIW I just wondered if you all notice the repeaters. I suppose though if you are a leader you remain until unseated.

Re: Stereophile Recommended Components Fall 2021 Edition

The actual criteria used in assembling this list have always been a bit of a mystery, despite the explanations given by the editors over the years. TAS is only slightly better (dividing by price rather than by "class"), but at least there it is more clear.
