Sound Level Meter App
I started using a free app named NIOSH Sound Level Meter. I have used several sound level meter apps in the past. This one is very simple to use, does the job very well, and it is truly free (no ads or push to upgrade to the “Pro” version).
I think that I will be using my ancient Radio Shack meter a lot less now.

Re: Sound Level Meter App
I've used that same app a few times. Agree that it seems to work well, and definitely appreciate the lack of adds, but I also don't have a standalone SPL meter to judge how accurate it might be. If you've verified that it's reasonably accurate, that's good to know! i'm sure it depends somewhat on the quality of the mic built in to the device you're using.
I also have a UMIK-1 USB microphone for use with Dirac Live and Room EQ Wizard (used in the basement theater room), but haven't tried using it on the main rig yet. That would be a good comparison that I need to try one day when I'm bored!Jeff

Re: Sound Level Meter App
this is the app i used to take all the readings in my recent thread on imputing speaker impedance curve and determining the volume on my amp necessary to generate one-watt of output.

Re: Sound Level Meter App
I have been meaning to test some of these apps against my super duper industrial sound meter. Maybe this week.

My Planar 3 came with an Elys. Changed it out to a Dynavector Karat 17D3. It cost more than the table. Massive upgrade.
