So what happened to Vinnie Rossi LIO?

So I realized and it was confirmed that Vinnie Rossi changed directions a little bit. Previously known for the modular LIO Integrated that was a good performing and affordable unit. Now all they have are the 3 Brahma units all close to 5X the cost of the LIO. I can't find much on the decision to not keep older products with improvements plus add new ones to the lineup. Was it a Parts issue, cost of parts, or lack of overall sales to maintain a profit?

I will be interested in hearing if others have specific information here. From my standpoint, I just assumed he was following marketing trends, giving people what they want, and charging what the market will bear. Which, during the pandemic, seemed to be a lot...
After hearing the Brama with my Rockport Atria's at Axpona, I am considering the $39K for the Brama. The sound was sublime.
It is a good question re how the old units will be supported. And, fruit for thought in considering a new purchase.

I've wondered this too. Thought the modular design / upgradability was a good idea.
A while back, briefly considered a used LIO, to maybe add upgrades, but then noticed it wasn't for sale new anymore, and neither were the modules, which wasn't reassuring from a support perspective.

The same question can be asked of the L2 amps and preamp. They were replaced by the Brahma series within 2-3 years, I seem to recall. If I had bought the L2 series, I wouldn't be too happy with its short shelf life.

Hi Chris,

>>I have noticed a change in direction in your offerings, are you still servicing and doing updates to the LIO ( since it does have a 10 year warranty)

We manufactured LIO between 2014 - 2019 (for approx. 5 years), and during that time we sold factory-direct. After LIO, we switched to a dealer / distributor network and have been competing in a higher price tier and a more global market. We decided this was the direction that we wanted to take Vinnie Rossi and it has been working well for us.

LIO's 10-year warranty still applies to the original purchasers, and for those who purchase on the used market, we offer prompt out-of-warranty service if it is ever needed.
We also offer the same for our previous product lines that were part of the Red Wine Audio brand that I started in 2004 ;-)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Vinnie Rossi
