Question about a setup
Hi,
As I have little knowledge around this topic I would like to ask a question and seek advice.
The system that I am about to buy is made out of these 3 components:
-Onkyo TX-NR 6050 receiver
-KEF - Q Series 6.5" 2-way Bookshelf speakers (pair)
-Audio Technica ATLP60 XBT Bluetooth stereo turn table
1) the receiver model and brand I wrote would work fine with those speakers?
2) the turntable would also run with the receiver I hope. is this fine ?
3) what kind of subwoofer would you recommend that works well with this receiver and speakers?
I checked the nearby stores where I live and these are the available products it seems I can choose from that fits my budget:
Polk Audio PSW108 10" Powered Subwoofer
Polk Audio PSW10 10" Powered Subwoofer, 100W
Klipsch - Reference Series 10" 150W
Thank you all for your recommendation
Cheers

Re: Question about a setup
Hi - and welcome to the forum!
I an not familiar enough with that dear to comment specifically other than I don't know why they wouldn't work together. Whether it gives you the sound you are looking for is a different story. Only you know what sound you like.
That's why I will ask, have you listened to these before? How did you decide on these components? What are you trying to accomplish with your new system? Is there an actual audio dealer you are working with or is it a Big Box store?
Good luck with what ever you end up buying!"We are all billionaires because of the huge piles sweet dough rolling in from our participation in the ongoing campaign to suck your collective brains through a stirrer-straw." - PTA Editorial Staff

yes, you will be fine

Now with all that being said a question or two..........
Is this set up to be used just for playing Lp's ? or do you have plans to extend it beyond into a multi-channel HT configuration ? If just for LP's the receiver you have picked out is overkill for your needs. It's a 7.2 unit and all you would need would be a basic 5.2, like the Denon AVR-S570BTCheers ! …. Dave

Re: Question about a setup
[QUOTE=MichaelsMinute;354528]Hi - and welcome to the forum!
Thank you for the reply !
1) yes- i listened to the speakers y (at best buy) and i listened to them several times . Sound is really good. but they were using a different receiver brand. they did not have onkyo. This onkyo seems like a good one (though -again- i am not much knowledgeable ) . When it comes to the turntable: no - i have not listened to it but all of the reviews are 5 stars . i don't see a reason why this would be a bad decision.
2) the audio dealers for the speakers and turntable is Best Buy . I am buying the onkyo from Costco tomorrow. (it is the only model and product Costco sells right now). There is no alternative, but the price ($499) is something i can afford and its capabilities seem good enough.
Thank you !

Re: Question about a setup
Thank you Mikado463 for your answer.
the set up is :
-to play LP
-to listen to spotify (that i want to stream from my cell phone). so, the app on my cell phone will play the music and hopefully the onkyo bluetooth will capture it. Is this fine Mikado463 ?

Re: Question about a setup
assuming you're streaming it via bluetooth ? so long as your AVR is bluetooth compatible you should be fine
Cheers ! …. Dave

Re: Question about a setup
Welcome, cavalerox!
If you can stretch your budget a bit, SVS subs offer good performance and value.
You might ask Mike what he suggests. Although he carries some of the best lines in the world of audio, he is also here to help people like you and I who are on more modest budgets. He and others on the forum are sure to be helpful. When you get a chance, you would do well to check out Mike's store/website - Suncoast Audio. (If you weren't aware, he also runs this forum.)

Re: Question about a setup
Personally if you are just going to listen to LP's and stream I wouldn't buy an home theater receiver, it will be overly complicated to set up and you are paying for a lot of features you wouldn't use. Onkyo is a decent brand, them and brands like Yamaha offer stereo receivers which would more what you need.
On the other hand the room equalization would be nice and help dial the subwoofer in, but as I mentioned it takes some know how or patience reading the manual to figure out how to do that and get the sub to play with the receiver in stereo mode.
If you didn't need the tuner"radio" that comes in a receiver you might look at integrated amps. NAD would be a good place to start in order to find something in your budget.
The Klipsch subs I've heard perform very well. Polk is a very well established brand that offers good product, typically a good value in the entry level.Aurender ACS10 w/Audioquest Diamond USB, Esoteric N05xd
