Qubuz taken over by Xandrie
French digital-music service Qobuz has a new owner: “digital culture and entertainment specialist” Xandrie.
The new ownership comes after troubled financial times for Qobuz, which has focused on high-resolution downloads and streaming, but which was recently in the commercial court of Paris as the subject of a potential takeover from two companies: Xandrie being one of them.

This caused me confusion when I saw a $24.99 charge from Xandrie USA in my notifications for one of my credit cards. Not recognizing the name I thought perhaps it was a fraudulent charge, and that my credit card had somehow been compromised. A quick Google search for Xandrie USA showed me the charge was authentic for my Qobuz streaming service. I must admit it is a bit disturbing that Qobuz nor Xandrie made any attempt to let me know of the billing name change.Dan

You would think entering the U.S. market would have created some infusion of cash but who knows what that expense was and how long to break even.

Re: Qubuz taken over by Xandrie
Glad the discovery of this being old news appears to have cleared this up!
In any sense, business is not easy for most. I particularly like Quboz and now favor this more than Tidal, and hope they make it as I directly relate their passage to today’s audio.
Sure, albums and cds are great, but they face just the same type of challenge, enough interest to earn enough revenue to survive.

Re: Qubuz taken over by Xandrie
Jack.......I neglected to notice the date on the Press Release. I see that this is actually old news. I signed up a month ago for the 30 day free trial, so this was my first billing cycle. I expected the charge to say Qubuz. When I didn't recognized Xandrie in my credit card notification earlier today I naturally thought it might be fraud. I am not disturbed one way or the other by who owns and operates Qubuz. It is a good streaming service. I simply do not access the streaming service often enough to make it worthwhile for me. I play music from my personal library much more than I stream. Since I have already been billed for the next month's service I will keep it another month but will most likely cancel my Qobuz service for lack of interest and use. No point in paying for something I'm not taking full advantage of enjoying.

Re: Qubuz taken over by Xandrie
This just hit a brick for me. I'm traveling and my CC wont work. Why, there is a $270 charge by xandeieusa. Caused me a crap pot of issues. Not fun when your money ceases to flow. I thought it was my records from Accoustic sound. They said no. Then I got worried I had approved it. Glad you guys knew what it was.

Re: Qubuz taken over by Xandrie
The resurfacing of this old thread reminded me that I needed to switch to annual membership. I just did!
While browsing the different memberships, I still can’t see the need for the Sublime membership. Why would anyone bother buying a download when you can stream the same album at the same resolution using the Studio membership? Maybe is a better option for someone with a very slow internet connection.

Re: Qubuz taken over by Xandrie
Quite a number of people have experienced their favorite albums being removed due to licensing changes for streaming.
The price of purchase ensures you still have access to those albums even when such an unfortunate incident occurs, or when you need to stop the subscription for any reason in the future.Peter Lie
