Re: Pictures of your room
Charles,
Care to report on your cabling experiences? Perhaps in another thread. I might be in the market for new speaker cable. Thanks.

Re: Pictures of your room
What a surprises me the most is how clean all these rooms are. No week old news papers. No empty coffee cups. No books. No shoes. How do people do that?

Re: Pictures of your room
a photo after this year's amplification upgrade and addition of an analog source.
i think i am pretty much at the end-game point. that being said, i won't rule out the possibility of upgrading a component here and there over time.
however, i won't increase the overall system foot-print... as a minimalist i constrained it to only three shelves plus speakers. in retrospect, the limited real estate available really focused the process of building a system to only the essentials.viking acoustics berlin r mk2 | almarro a318b + air tight atc-5 (phono) | clearaudio concept + virtuoso v2 MM | t+a dac8 dsd + diy transport + roon rock

Re: Pictures of your room
After selling off the ARC kit and the Wilson Alexia, and adding a sculpture to the wall, the look has changed a little. The sound has taken a HUGE leap. I was very fond of that rig, many, many memorable nights sharing music with friends. Now I have to kick my friends out they don’t want to leave.

Re: Pictures of your room
Bob, which of the three speakers is best suited (in your opinion) to symphonic orchestral music, both for dynamics and for the image of a large orchestra?

Don't know how it sounds, but I've never seen a more beautiful listening room. I've been admiring it for some time. Congratulations!!!
Oh, your previous ARC front-end had huge untapped, hidden, potential....

Re: Pictures of your room
The ultimate question... but sadly no ultimate answer. All three of these are amazing speakers, and I am, honestly, just getting on with each of them. I had a fellow come for a listen who is a huge classical music lover, really into the big orchestral works. We listened for 4 1/2 hours to Alsyvox—they are quite remarkable they can plumb the depths the way they do, with power and authority while maintaining such exquisite tonal structure and detail. Everyone who hears the Alsyvox love, love, love them.
Then the Diesis... also excellent speakers, as are the Bayz. All excellent, it really comes down to personal taste, as we know in this hobby one person will think Alsyvox are the best, another will think he's lost his mind and prefer Diesis. I am moving the Alsyvox out this weekend, rotating the Diesis back in. I want to go through the same playlist as above with Diesis. They don't go quite as deep as the Botticelli, but they have their own qualities that make them very, very appealing.
I am fascinated by the Bayz... I have never had an omni-directional speaker so it is a very new thing for me. I have a couple friends here in Portland area who have MBL, before moving here I had never heard any omni. In my room the sound, as the cleaning ladies said... "is so big!" (I was playing music when they arrived, they came to the listening room and were looking all around—they didn't connect the sound with the crazy looking speakers which was something they'd never seen before.) I have the larger version of the Bayz coming—I think they'll play my room a little better than the smaller ones, even though the smaller ones are pretty amazing.

Great speakers!

Re: Pictures of your room
I don't post very much, but thought I'd show some pics of my current setup. This is in the basement of our new home in Colorado Springs. I'm not finished with the room, but it sounds better than I've ever heard my system before, already.
This first pic shows the view from behind the corner of the bar area.
This pic shows the view from behind the front right speaker.
This views shows the tangled mess of interconnects and proves that I am lazy!
From behind the front left speaker.
A view from the right side.

Steve
