Ok, time for my first, second system.

Decided I might be more tempted to use my gorgeous high end rowing machine if I had a system in there. We use a spare bedroom as a junk room / home gym. So today I moved the junk part into the attic or out to the curb and now it's quite nice in there. My budget is a mere $1500.

I already have a source which will be optical out of my Apple TV. So I need a DAC, preamp, amp, and speakers. And remember it needs to sound good enough to lure me into rowing away my spare tire.

Sooo...the first compoment I'll be trying is the MicroMega MyAmp. That takes care of the DAC, pre, and amp. And I like the small form factor and lack of wires you get with an all in 1 piece. Plus, no cables to buy. I've owned the MicroMega MyDAC before and thought it was the best budget DAC (under $500) I've ever heard. So I have high hopes for the MyAmp which is obviously part of the same line. It's been reviewed a lot since its recent release and there's definitely a ground swell of praise for it.

For speakers, I'm going with Tekton Design Mini Lores. High effeciency speakers also with a lot of positive audiophile buzz around them. I'm getting a custom high gloss white to sort of match the micromega amp.

Orders are in. I'll report back for the unboxing, hopefully in about 3 weeks.

Sounds like a good gig. I was considering getting a pair of "finesse" speakers for music and then getting a pair of m-lores for home theater use so they could rock out super loud due to their efficiency.
